The real problem for the Seahawks is that the coaches had 2 weeks to address short yardage situations and substitution options with time clock management being your prime focus. They were unprepared for 2nd and 1 with 20 plus seconds and a timeout. They had the Pats D stretched out in the same man coverage look, with that same MLB spying in the middle, playing 6 yards off the line of scrimmage, reading pass first. As another poster mentioned, the sneak would of likely been at least a positive gain. Call a time out. They could run a pass play next, throw it away and stop the clock if they have to. They still would have time to run another play, and since it is fourth down, it could still be run or pass. Coaches always say that it is about putting their players in the best position to succeed. Bevell set their no.5 WR up as either the hero or the goat on that one. They were out coached, partially by themselves by neglecting "situational" football. Perhaps they didn't anticipate the game coming down to those situations with time being a critical component. I hope Ryan was paying attention.
