GG Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Why wasnt the 2nd down pass that was intercepted considered defensive pass interference? There was obvious contact while the ball was in the air Defender has a right to go to the ball too, and he was in a better position to make that catch. Incidental contact.
Green Lightning Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Contact was within 5 yards. Just run the ball with Beast Mode and game over.
billieve420 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Defender was playing the Ball they have just as much right as the offensive player for the ball. So even though there was contact it was incidental and guy made a good play on the ball. Terrible play call ruined it for Seattle they had this.
plenzmd1 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Ah, forgot about that 5 yard thing. The 5 yards is before the ball is in the air...that being said both going for ball and not PI
thebandit27 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The 5 yards is before the ball is in the air...that being said both going for ball and not PI Actually, I looked this up when Gilmore got called for DPI in the Denver game, and the rule states specifically that NO CONTACT that occurs less than 1 yard past the LOS is considered pass interference. Since the LOS was the 1-yard line, and the contact occurred at or before the goal-line, it cannot be DPI...and I agree that the contact was incidental anyway.

thebandit27 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I did not know that..thank you No problemo...here's the exact verbiage: Acts that do not occur more than one yard beyond the line of scrimmage are not pass interference, but could be defensive holding (see 12-1-6). http://static.nfl.co...Pass_Fumble.pdf
Bubba Gump Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 It was too bang bang to be called in real time anyways. He was there maybe a quarter of a second before the ball. No official could have seen that live IMO.

No official could have seen that live IMO. Also true, but either way, by the letter of the rules, it's not DPI. They can both compete for the ball.
Nanker Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Another reason why this was a dip-**** play to call. Talk about putting your player in a position to succeed - hey Carroll - you choked!
