But one hell of a sense of humor for sure Do you remember the famous video highlight of Dan Marino faking a spike at the line of scrimmage and then throwing a touchdown pass right in the face of defenders who had relaxed thinking the play was over? Do you think that play would have worked if he hadn't actually spiked the ball on earlier plays? C'mon man - - think a little. BringBackFergy Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 It's clear that he's no Jameis Winston.Quite honestly, aside from the age gap, Orton and Winston could be easily mistaken for one another with a helmet on: both can read multiple defensive fronts with average intelligence and quick audibles; both scan the field for not only first and second reads, but also third, fourth and fifth reads; both exhibit unusually long extremeties allowing them to swim through rushing DE's and LB's; both have a release that is 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock for a short burst of power with tight spirals; both have the ability to concentrate in the midst of adversity and come back (see Minnesota and Lions games and Winston's come backs). I have to give the edge to Orton on footwork, spring factor (think tire drill where you have to practice dipping and dancing through big DT's laying on the ground) and overall quickness and agility. Winston will disappoint....Orton has been there and the dust can be brushed off rather quick. "If you love something, set it free...if it comes back to you, playoffs here we come".

He answered our call for help and assured St. Doug he would be back in high school "ground and pound" shape before training camp 2015. When Marrone and Hackett met with him to explain they wouldn't rely on his legs (or his brain) to run the read option next season, our entire team collapsed. Marrone had no choice but to resign. Most every other team knew Marrone screwed up by denying Orton the opportunity to run the read option...that's why he didn't get a head coaching gig (or an OC job). I've been checking Twitter for Orton's workout schedule and will update the thread when he makes it public. and little Nate was just a victim. The Horror. Oh the inhumanity of it all. marrone.... marrone.. marrone I can guarantee one thing. In between walks on the beach, playing pitch with his buddies and bowling in the Husband Wife Tournament at the Four Pins Bowlarama with his wife, he is spending considerable time doing pilates, running sprints with parachute resistance and drinking kale shakes. I think I read somewhere that he is producing his own 3 disc DVD instructional series called "Running Through the Steps: How to perfect the Read Option". You may laugh but Kyle will rear his head again this summer just in time to offer some lucky team the opportunity to find a diamond in the rough. Even from the photos, you can still sense the hunger in his eyes and the fire of competition. We haven't heard the last from him (whether it is on the Bills or the Eagles - I know Chip Kelly always spoke highly of KO and would have fit nicely into the up-tempo offense). Kyle could have applied for numerous trademarks: "Stylish Kylish" or "Killer Krush Kyle" or even "Don't Tread on Me Orton"....all are appropriate, but he wasn't about to sell himself out like a cheap Ohio stripper. Kyle has character, grace, a cunning approach to the game, willing to sacrifice his already solid body, and is quick on foot. Jameis is half the QB Orton is and you know it.

I did ........ for about 1 minute. I was one of the first here to be on board with bringing in Orton as backup. I now see how that worked out.

Over 29 years of fanhood Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 What you naysayers fail to comprehend is with a beefy O-line, reliable back field blocking and Kyle's ability to evade hard hits to his body, he could have potentially constituted a gameplanning nightmare for defensive coordinators. Doug Marrone was too bullheaded to see this and I'm sure KO wanted to call his own number in the huddle. #legendcutshort. #russwilsonwho This is like deep thoughts by jack handey. I'm pretty good at scanning the Wiki pages and overlooked this fact. Thanks for the background. It all kind of makes sense now, doesn't it? Acting ability, skill necessary to deceive defensive secondaries and start/stop with accelerated, evasive tactics to confuse defenses. The narration in that video sent chills down my spine. On a side note, there was some reference by Shefter or Graham (I think on Twitter) that Chip Kelly was looking for Kiko and Kyle Orton for MCCoy. As you know Kyle "retired" but don't be surprised if he pops up in Philly to reinvigorate Chip's lethargic no huddle next year. Rested and ready may be an understatement, but it's my understanding Whaley promised he would get Kyle to Philly no later than Saturday to talk to Chip (IMO).
