H2o Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 The Minneapolis Star-Tribune concedes the Adrian Peterson era in Minnesota "may be over." The potential breakup here is more about Peterson's contract than his legal issues. He turns 30 in March, carries a league-high for RBs $15.4M cap hit and has said he has no intention of taking a pay cut. The off-field complications only muddle the situation further. It's possible both sides are looking for a fresh start, which would make Jerick McKinnon the favorite to start Week 1 of 2015. http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/football-player-news/?rw=1 Should we make a run at AP if he hits the market? Is he 30? Yes, but he has proven to be an athletic freak of nature and he had a whole year off. What say you TSW?
prissythecat Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 30 year old RB with 15 million dollar contract? No thanks.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 30 year old RB with 15 million dollar contract? No thanks. Yeah...this should be obvious.
TheBillsWillRiseAgain Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Wait is that $15 A YEAR??? hahahahaha Obviously an older contract left over from the hayday of Running Backs
H2o Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 30 year old RB with 15 million dollar contract? No thanks. No, not at $15 million. I'm talking about if he gets released and becomes a FA.
NoSaint Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Yeah...this should be obvious. i think the obvious part being that it would be after his release and more like a 3-4 year 15m deal not 15m per season.
Kelly the Dog Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 If the line is any good at all, which we don't know at all, Adrian Peterson, a guy like Jordan Cameron, Watkins, Woods, Goodwin and a guy like Matt Moore, or even EJ = Playoffs.
Proteus Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Peterson is a rare athlete and was the best running back in the league prior to his suspension. Plus he basically just took a year off so he should be healed up and ready to go. I guarantee he has at least two great years left. Which happens to coincide with our window. If we are going to fix the online and pound the rock, if available, acquiring AP is a no brainer.
DasNootz Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 AP may very well be the exception to the "just another guy" running back philosophy in the NFL. I think he's worth more than 3-4 million per year, even at the age of 30. I wouldn't give him franchise QB money, but he's certainly more valuable than Ben Tate, Donald Brown, Toby Gerhart and Knowhawn Moreno were (each got $3 million or more last season).
dhg Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I think he ends up in Dallas after they let Demarco Murray walk.
nucci Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I think he ends up in Dallas after they let Demarco Murray walk. Good point
Maddog69 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 For the right price, he would be a good addition to the team
Max997 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) He will be cut and prob sign with Dallas as a free agent with Murray moving on...seems like he has been destined for Dallas since last offseason Edited January 20, 2015 by Max997
BaaadThingsMan Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 AP is not your average RB. He's overcome serious injuries in college and the pros to become the best RB in the game for a few years. Now he just had a year off in his prime to heal up and refresh, he's definitely worth signing for a couple years if the price is right
stony Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) I'd have no problem giving him a lot guaranteed money up front (in RB terms) and have him heavily pound the rock for two years while this QB situation sorts itself out. Doesn't have to be a long-term marriage. Edited January 20, 2015 by stony
Rocky Landing Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 This would be a hard pill for me to swallow, as a parent of a four-year-old boy.
stony Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I think he ends up in Dallas after they let Demarco Murray walk. I think this is the logical assumption but if they can't Demarco signed because of money, how little will AP accept?
mikemac2001 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 No brainer he is gonna get cut and will get paid but not 15 mill Then draft one next year to replace fred and take over in a year or two from an aging AP
Maddog69 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 This would be a hard pill for me to swallow, as a parent of a four-year-old boy. I totally understand and respect this viewpoint. What he did was sickening. Hopefully he has learned from it and will grow to be a better parent instead of living in the old mindset of "My Daddy used to whoop me so that's what I will do". Over time, we find better ways of doing things. Hopefully he has grown. As a football player, there aren't many better RBs.
