Check out the links at www.toronto.com And some people look at Canada as America Jr. ! sh-- Canada is way ahead of America in alot of ways. buckeyemike Posted February 6, 2005 Share Posted February 6, 2005 I don't disagree with your statement, but remember that Canada is a more socialistic (not socialist, but socialistic) society than America. Yes, you get free health care there, but you pay for it in high taxes. The Canadian government is more top-heavy than ours because of all the social programs. Canada is a more liberal nation, liberal in both a good and bad way. They are wrestling with a lot of social issues right now, including same-sex unions and (in the recent past) legalization of marijuana. I don't doubt that they as a whole are more earnest than we are as Americans. However, it doesn't mean that the government always makes the right decision for its citizens.
