Buffalo_Stampede Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Why do people have such a hard time seeing this. He took his option out as was stipulated in his contract. Nothing underhanded there. He had the option in case things didn't work out with the new ownership. Things didn't work out. Case closed. There are several things he will have to come up with creative answers to, but this is not one of them. What didn't work out? His next employer isn't going to accept "things didn't work out".
plenzmd1 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Just that he had the option isn't a good enough reason, especially when pressed about why. Plus asked about his strained relationship with Doug. There are now a few different reports that he bombed the interview (and one I have seen that he did excellent). But they didn't hire him, and he was the heavy favorite. He has to be clever about it because he can't say he demanded more power or more money for his assistants, after they weren't good. You can't tell your new prospective owner that. Agree. Saying" i had an out and took it just cause i had an ou"t i do not think is going to work...this is not regular business, this is football. Someone earlier said a year off may be best thing for him...and i agree. I think he gets hired again next year, especially if the Bills record heads south.
ALF Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 If Peyton decided to retire he would make a good HC
Buffalo Beeeews Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Marrone, at best, will land a coordinator or College gig this year, at best. No matter how you spin your tail, he quit on this organization and he's gonna have that stink on him for a while. His own doing!
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I think marrone will really upsell the bills moral victory over the Broncos this year.
Heitz Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I think marrone will really upsell the bills moral victory over the Broncos this year. "But my Defense did a great job of holding Payton in-check. Sadly, Hackett's O couldn't score enough points to get the win"
Canadian Bills Fan Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 LOL he cancelled his interview? CBF
Peter Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 LOL he cancelled his interview? CBF He opted out of his interview? Sounds like Saint Doug!
BEAST MODE BABY! Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 It could hurt his beatification process with the Vatican. Doug wants his sainthood.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) LOL he cancelled his interview? CBF Is this true? Would be so hilarious if it were. Haha; it is true!! https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/556185458297032705 Edited January 16, 2015 by JR in Pittsburgh
blargo Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) Is this true? Would be so hilarious if it were. It's true. He wants to see the result of the Kubiak interview on Sunday. Who does that? http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12178603/baltimore-ravens-oc-gary-kubiak-interview-denver-broncos-head-coaching-job Edited January 16, 2015 by blargo
dpberr Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Doug Marrone is one very unusual man. Nothing he's done since the end of the season has made sense to me.
Chuck Wagon Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Is this true? Would be so hilarious if it were. Haha; it is true!! https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/556185458297032705 He wants to see how Kubiak's interview goes. AKA he doesn't want to lose a head to head battle for yet another job.
DC Tom Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Is this true? Would be so hilarious if it were. Haha; it is true!! https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/556185458297032705 From the annals of "How not to find a new job." Is he really that stuck on himself that he thinks he can cancel a job interview, and the job will wait for him? That's unreal. We joke occasionally about some people on the board being narcissists, but I think Marrone might be a true clinical case.
DC Tom Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 He wants to see how Kubiak's interview goes. AKA he doesn't want to lose a head to head battle for yet another job. AKA "He who turns and runs away lives to run another day."
Peter Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Doug Marrone . . . a man who quit before he even started.
plenzmd1 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 AKA "He who turns and runs away lives to run another day." In a famous Wire quote "you cannot lose if you do not play the game"
