Well, that's what my title says...

Seriously though, I finally feel that the HC, DC and OC are all on the same page philosophy wise for the first time in years. Roman and Rex have track records of success in their individual fields and finally might have a perfect marriage of special. Romans experience with Kaep may be the only thing to salvage Manuel at least one more year. If that isn't a reason to think the Kool-Aid isn't dosed with cyanide thus time I don't know what is.

Also Marrone was probably a nightmare for Whaley to deal with. A good relationship be GM/HC is crucial.

Still not liking the hire. This does nothing to help the Bills. Their D is already great, they needed an offensive minded coach who can develop QBs. Kaepernick regressed under Roman the past couple seasons. I just don't see EJ taking the next step with this coaching staff.... David Lee? Are you serious? Isn't he the guy that messed with Fitz's throwing mechanics a few years ago? That turned out well

Here is the problem with this line of thinking: You're assuming that if it was a different coaching hire that Swartz would have stayed. I don't think that's the case. Also, what's wrong with planning ahead for the contingency that Swartz leaves by hiring a defensive minded coach. Also, I'm sure you listened to the presser, Ryan stated that he does not push a system on his players. Instead, he builds a system around the roster. Isn't that what we Bills fans have wanted for years? I know I have.

In terms of offense, again according to the presser, Ryan will give his OC a long leash, something that didn't exist under the last regime. Ryan is the HC, not the DC or the OC. He knows his role and is going to fulfill it accordingly. In fact, we're probably in better hands with a defensive coach like Ryan as opposed to an offense oriented coach in terms of maintaining a good/great defense.

Who is drinking the Rex Ryan Kool Aid? After the presser I must admit I am. Hopefully im not eating crow in a few years. Go Bills.

It's called "Buffalo Water" now

I dont like the Thurman hire, would have preffered him giving the defense to Schwartzs so he could focus on actually being a HC instead of being a glorified DC with a HC title. So defo waiting to see what comes. That said he gained some points with that presser, I can see why is being called a great motivator.

Thurman is Rex. Rex is Thurman. They are a hive mind, but it's Rex who will be calling the plays. Don't worry about Thurman or Rex being stretched too thin (fat jokes are so last Rex), even if you're right at the very worst it's still a massive improvement over Marrone and Schwartz running the O and the D -- and I think Schwartz is good. Rex is just brilliant on defense. It's a major upgrade.

Rex is quite the politician that press conference was music to Bills fans ears. With that said Ive always liked Rex I just hope he's learned from his experience in New York and he is more of a head coach like he's supposed to be and not just an defensive coordinator.

Rex is more motivated now than ever before. I think that will serve him well. At least I hope.

To those worried about a defensive HC when we needed an offensive HC because the offense is the thing that needs fixing: A HC has to worry about the whole team, so he is not going to be spending 100% of the time or energy or thinking on the defense. But the OC will spend 100% of his time fixing and worrying about the offense. So while you first worried that we are not addressing the side of the ball that needs the most attention, we're actually doing it more this way. That is, as long as your OC is a HC material, too. Which he is.

Rex is a great motivator and the players love him. He's excellent at getting the best out of the roster that he has. He's a defense oriented coach, which in my opinion is a good thing. I still believe that championship teams get there on a great defense.

Seattle is a great example.

So there are a lot of positives, but the elephant in the room is still the one thing that plagues all mediocre teams: They don't have their QB situation settled. The four remaining teams that are about to play in the conference championships all have one thing in common.....they don't have any questions at QB.

Rex has done some pretty amazing things with mediocre talent at QB before (Sanchez), but it remains to be seen if he can turn EJ into a starter.

I think it's possible.... but looking at how well the QB's have fared under Rex Ryan's staff doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. Maybe under Roman they'll ground and pound enough that they won't need to rely on quality QB play..... which sounds nice if we we're discussing this in the late 90's early 00's.

Today it's a passing league. "ground and pound" with a stout D doesn't get you the playoffs in this day and age.

Seattle Seahawks defending Super Bowl Champs and maybe repeats. I like Russell Wilson but the guy doesn't air it out like Manning or Brady. Punishing run game and punishing defense. Ground and pound!

He doesn't air it out but he's great. They wouldn't be nearly as good with a good game manager like Alex Smith.

On Mike and Mike he said he won't coach any more once he is finished in Buffalo. All or nothing.

I think all of us Bills fans have earned the right to be skeptical until we start seeing wins and production. It's all talk unless we make the playoffs and start becoming a contending team as far as I'm concerned.
