Buffalo Barbarian Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Apparently I'm the only person who thinks Lee Smith is a solid (not great) TE. He can block and catch when thrown too. I think a lot of the vitriol directed at him is because of the frustration with Hackett and Maroon. Can't wait to see you busting heads Lee in the new Ground & Pound offense!!! Go Bills!!! (throws down mic and walks off)
Rob's House Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Smith has been a favorite whipping boy b/c he's a blocking TE and as such doesn't have a lot of stats, and because he takes a few more penalties than he should. His blocking is generally underrated by fans.
Best Player Available Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 if your doing stand up in a small room during a Buffalo blizzard, and it's 2AM. That Just might work! Bills vs. Packers Lee Smith two catches for one yard total. That will bring the house down. And one of his better outings too.

Tintonfallsbillsfan Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 He is a good blocking tight end, he does he seem to get called for more penalties then he is worth however. A am not sure how hard to replace a one dimensional blocking tight end if at all
Jauronimo Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Do you think we could be convinced to trade Lee Smith if we were offering Mario?
FireChan Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I'll never forget Lee falling into the crowd. Probably the best memory of his career. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-2/Lee-Smith-becomes-internet-sensation/fa710678-4815-448f-9b41-614d613fd272
Simon Says Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Smith is a free agent, won't be trading him
Kirby Jackson Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I'd give even $ that he isn't on an opening day roster. Any takers?

EmotionallyUnstable Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I was hoping when I opened this thread there would be zero responses.
jletha Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 He gets called for A LOT more penalties than he is worth. The guy is good for at least one dumb penalty a game, and for someone who provides so little elsewhere I cant believe his roster spot remained. Im sorry OP but he is just terrible. I hope Kirby is right that he isnt on the roster because that means we will upgraded TE just ever so slightly.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 I was hoping when I opened this thread there would be zero responses. Lee thanks you for your support
playman Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 (edited) if blocking is needed get an o-liner in there. and i am pretty sure there are some of them who block way better than smith but catch at least as well Edited January 14, 2015 by playman
RealityCheck Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Garbage player. Poor leverage in run blocking, 3rd down penalties, non-existent receiving threat. His negative plays outweigh his marginally positive plays. The definition of liability.
Solomon Grundy Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I was hoping when I opened this thread there would be zero responses. LOL! LMAO!
Kelly the Dog Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I think his blocking is overrated, his ability to run three yard routes and catch passes with no one on him is overrated, and the amount and the timing of the penalties are criminally intolerable. But his true evil was his simple existence on the active roster, that made Black Hat Doug want and choose to use him over MWilliams, Goodwin, Hogan, Spiller, etc. and repeatedly field these demented, inhuman 2-3 TE formations, and murder our chances for the playoffs.
stevestojan Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 This thread is Lee Smith's greatest football accomplishment.
buffalo2218 Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Wasn't Lee Smith the one that was penalized on Spiller's KO TD return when it was the official's fault for going too far out of bounds?
