Let's face it, for the Buffalo Bills, hiring Rex Ryan as the head coach was a coupe. However, it doesn't matter if they hired Bill Walsh, winning is not guaranteed in the NFL. I read that people have discussed Rex's defenses and what he has not been able to do on offensive side of the ball. I'm not certain any of that matter. What is significant is the simplistic question, did Rex Ryan learn from his Jets experience?

We should all hope the answer is yes. Many of the truly successful head coaches in this league work the way Marv Levy did. Marv, along with guys like John Harbaugh, and Mike Tomlin, don't coordinate the offense or defense, they hire guys to do that and over see everything. They make the critical game day decisions, they take the bullets when things go bad and reap raise on others when things go well.

I hope that Rex does keep Jim Schwartz as his defensive coordinator, mainly because it says, my ego isn't as important as winning. We know he will be hands off on offense, so why not be hands off on anything. Manger the coaches you hire. Know what everyone is doing but don't micro-manage. Trust those who have been hire until such time where it doesn't work.
