HOUSE Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) I think the question needs to be asked. We really have no real proof on why KYLE ORTON RETIRED but the hiring of a new coach could change everything. I am not buying the BE WITH THE FAMILY BS. Marrones retirement was unexpected and I bet Orton is shitting his pants right now. WHAT.....WHAT......REX RYAN.....OMG !!! Lets put it this way, I wouldn't bet against his return. It all depends on who the new coach likes. Lets face it Kyle Orton could be a completely different QB with a decent running attack and an improved OL. Personally I think he was frustrated with Buffalo's 2014 offensive strategy. I am not endorsing a return just the possibility. Edited January 12, 2015 by HOUSE
NoSaint Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I don't think the question NEEDS to be asked. I'd think the safe money is he didn't want to play football anymore.
Captain Hindsight Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I really doubt it. His heart wasn't in it the last 6 weeks of the season and it was very apparent
BillsCelticsAngelsBama Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) When spring comes around he could have a change of heart..... not like there is much competition for the job. And having a Head Coach who probably isn't even watching the game when the offense is on the field could be enticing. Edited January 12, 2015 by MOVALLEYRANDY

bobobonators Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Ugh. I don't think the question needs to be asked about Orton. If he were a life-long bill, or if he was a better QB, perhaps. But I really don't want the franchise to waste their time on a QB who no longer has the heart for it. I liked Orton but definitely time to move on.
Jamie Nails Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Move on. I don't want to run in place with someone who is wishy washy at best.
Rob's House Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I think he came in wanting to be a starting QB, but after taking a pounding for 12 weeks he probably decided he'd rather move on while he still has his health. I doubt he's interested in coming back.
Fadingpain Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) Orton is done and he is not the type of warrior to come back simply b/c a new/better coach is on board. That's not where this guy's head was at. He isn't thinking in terms of schemes, wins, losses, probability of success, and so on. He was thinking about padding his retirement fund to the tune of $5 million while staying safe and then getting his ass back to Jack Daniels drinking. He's done. No story here. NoSaint Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Plus let's not forget how he left too- hey guys, got a meeting..... Never to be seen again and the team found out from the media? Dudes lucky marrone was just as bad or he'd be getting more ill will about his methodology
transient Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Assuming he did have a change of heart, why would a new HC/OC with a blank slate and an eye toward the future of the franchise (something that I'd argue Marrone did not this season, for now obvious reasons) want him back knowing that he's now "walked away" twice?

How do we know that it wasn't Doug Marrone that caused him to retire ?
Green Lightning Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 (edited) Doug who? Kyle who? That was sooo last year. Time to move on! Edited January 12, 2015 by Green Lightning
machine gun kelly Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I agree. He's done. His heart is not in it. As much as I'm not an EJ fan, we'd be better off with him. I think part of Rexxy coming here is a Whaley pitch, we have a plan with QB. As long as we resign Hughes, we really have a complete defense with Kiko coming back. We have an entire draft for the offense plus free agency. I wouldn't be surprised if we go 10-6 next year and beat NE in one of the games. You can bet press conferences will be much more fun than with Maroon. And for those who say we are overlooked, get ready. We're going to get more media attention than most teams in the NFL.
John from Riverside Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I hope that one of Rex Ryan's stipulations for taking the job is we are going to be aggressive going after another QB...... This doesnt mean we have given up on EJ....which I dont want to do......but bring in LEGIT competition for him.....not not a lead pony
JoeF Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Roman is more geared to coaching things Orton just cannot do like the read option, the pistol -- mobile QB. Its not a fit schematically. EJ is a fit schematically...Chase Daniel (trade), Michael Vick, Jake Locker are names to watch I think..
RealityCheck Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Orton made the right read when he retired. Unfortunately it was inaccurate and some fans think he is just fooling about and will return to his non-playoff form.
