YoloinOhio
@RapSheet: Wow RT @gerrydulac: Dick LeBeau out as DC. Says he and #Steelers have agreed to mutually part ways: "Time to go in a different direction." @SI_PeterKing: LeBeau told Urbana (Ohio) Daily Citizen he is resigning, not retiring. Wow. Hes 77. Miyagi-Do Karate
Wow. Insane move. Can't fault that guy when that defense was so old and banged up. Give it one more year to infuse more youth and it will be back to a top-10 unit. Interesting too that he said he is not retiring. I wonder if he lands with an NFL team, or even goes college (ohio state).
The Poojer
Maybe he'll come back to buffalo if they pass over Schwartz for the hc position and he leaves
C.Biscuit97
One of the greatest DCs ever. He would be a hot FA for a team that needs to improve their D.
Lurker
Terrific coach. What an NFL run...56 years as a player or a coach. I wonder if that's some kind of record...
Miyagi-Do Karate
Terrific coach. What an NFL run...56 years as a player or a coach. I wonder if that's some kind of record... And the guy still looks like he's in his 50s. Amazing. I remember when he came back to pittsburgh again to interview (after he left buffalo); he got a standing O at a Pitt bball game, and said that pushed him to sign up again. truth on hold
mike tomlin over rated IMO. that team will really suffer now
LA Grant
Our defense took 10 years to return to the level of play that LeBeau got them to during his time here. It would be incredible to land him in some capacity. Schwartz HC, Johnson DC, LeBeau as Asst Head Coach/D Specialist? Miyagi-Do Karate
mike tomlin over rated IMO. that team will really suffer now My sense is that Tomlin just let lebeau do his thing. I wonder if he reverts to his Tampa 2/ 4-3 ways and makes his own mark on the defense.
GunnerBill
One of the greatest DCs ever. He would be a hot FA for a team that needs to improve their D. If Bowles leaves Arizona for a HC gig watch out for him ending up in some sort of defensive consultancy capacity there with a younger DC being appointed - that is the way they use Tom Moore on the offensive side. Thrivefourfive
I checked out his bio. He played on Woody Hayes' 1957 national championship team. It's difficult to wrap my mind around that!

Thrivefourfive
hes the type that if any offensive guy went to atlanta would be a perfect fit for their DC I believe only 3 dome teams have rings. Can a dome team ever have a great defense? Give them a 14-2 record, hosting the conference championship game, and they can get beat because a great defense can be neutralized in a dome. Maybe LeBeau wants to warm his bones, but he can't really expect to win a Super Bowl in ATL.
The Big Cat
...he's 77. I doubt he's offered/takes a FT NFL coaching job of any sort.
boyst
I am getting crazy here, but this would work out: HC Schwartz DC LeBeau OC Pepper Johnson Maybe he'll come back to buffalo if they pass over Schwartz for the hc position and he leaves he can't leave he is under contract beyond this year. Fixxxer
mike tomlin over rated IMO. that team will really suffer now He's a good coach but I think he's a bit over rated too. Besides, parting ways with a legend and keeping a guy like Todd Haley? This is a bad move IMO.

I wonder if he lands with an NFL team, or even goes college (ohio state). Not sure about that. He was the man. Steelers are stupid for firing him. That team had the talent of a college team. Huge regression in store for them next year. ...he's 77. I doubt he's offered/takes a FT NFL coaching job of any sort. He has stated to the media in Pittsburgh that he wants to continue coaching. Would be a great hire perhaps for Pitt DC! (if he feels like dealing with college kids). Or Bills DC if Schwartz is HC. Make Pepper assistant DC Coordinator and let him learn from one of the best ever for a few years. If Bowles leaves Arizona for a HC gig watch out for him ending up in some sort of defensive consultancy capacity there with a younger DC being appointed - that is the way they use Tom Moore on the offensive side. I could def see this. Bruce Arians and him winning a Super Bowl and I'd be laughing at my Steeler friends who wanted both these guys gone (actually, not sure if any fans wanted DIck gone, but many spoiled Steelers fans thought Arians was awful).
