HOUSE Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 I honestly thought this was a troll thread after reading the first sentence. Lol. Troll thread ???
Profitspro Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 one thing to remember in football is that next year never comes, nothing is certain when it comes to football, we could suffer significant injuries that could derail the team's progress
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 one thing to remember in football is that next year never comes, nothing is certain when it comes to football, we could suffer significant injuries that could derail the team's progress Oh thanks for the uplift. I could also walk outside and get hit by a bus. This is a risk for every team in the NFL. We need to be above that. Our defense lost the best player to injury this year, and turned out just fine.
downunderbill Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Maybe that's why there are 75 interviews. IMO that's the new owner, not having much NFL experience, wanting to interview everyone under the sun to make the right choice as opposed to coaches declining the gig. Has Pegs has actually made any offers or has any team made any offers?
Mickey Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 None of those quarterbacks are at all likely to lead anyone to the play offs, that is why they are available. Another complication is that the same team that was looking to replace Galey with Polian or, at the least, to have Polian look over his shoulder, is now having Galey interview the coaching candidates. Not many coaches survive after the GM who hired him gets fired. Add in the lack of a first round pick and you can see why a coach with another option might take a pass on the Bills.

Pneumonic Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Someone would have to be a moron to pass up any of just 32 jobs in the world.
HOUSE Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Someone would have to be a moron to pass up any of just 32 jobs in the world. This is a great opportunity for just about any coach. They should pay us just to coach here
rumblefish Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 playoffs next year? that kind of guarantee is as likely as the ability to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, with this crystal ball predicting, winning mega millions should be a slam dunk, a walk in the park, or easy-peasy
peterpan Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) Whaley is pitching EJ to these guys. Any coach worth a darn would almost demand a new QB of his choosing be brought in. And it sounds like Whaley isnt going to give in. Thats basically why Marrone left. No one is chomping at the bit to come here. Edited January 8, 2015 by peterpan
Sisyphean Bills Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Whaley is pitching EJ to these guys. Any coach worth a darn would almost demand a new QB of his choosing be brought in. And it sounds like Whaley isnt going to give in. Thats basically why Marrone left. No one is chomping at the bit to come here. Good point. Someone who has a low opinion of EJM and actually wants to hit the ground running isn't "stupid" to walk away. He may just decide that having EJM rammed down his throat wasn't in his best career interest.
EasternOHBillsFan Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 You find the quarterback of your choice, Cutler, Glennon, Mallet, or Sanchez then you adjust the offense with a free agent or two. Kiko Alonzo returns and the defense is even better next year. We move merely on to the playoffs with an already 9-7 team and YOU receive most of the credit. Did you learn anything from Jon Gruden ? If you pass up the Buffalo Bills head coaching then you are nuts.......... Even Dick Jauron could coach this team to the playoffs............... -- If it meant having EJ forced down your throat for a year, it makes it MUCH less appealing. I would hope the management gets a REAL QB and quits messing around with a failed pick.
buffaloboyinATL Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Someone would have to be a moron to pass up any of just 32 jobs in the world. or a Marrone. (See what I did there?)

Joaquin1119 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 No QB except for the scraps you said... Atlanta is still the best place of all coaching jobs available. Can't forget that San Francisco 49ers is another place to coach too.
Charles Romes Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 No one has the feeling that Schwartz maxed out this D this year?

217014170 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 One benefit of casting a wide net in the interview process is it allows the new ownership to tell their story. They need the word to get out that they are committed to winning and money/resources are not an issue. "...AND if ANYONE gets in your way, just let me know because you report to me." It may not get them the candidate of their choice this time but they need to take advantage of this platform to broadcast their message. You cannot say they did not try to lock up the big names to come here. People like Cowher have too much to lose, including a friendship with a billionaire if he comes to Buffalo and fails. If the rumors were true that Polian was dissuaded by bad mouthing in the inner ranks then I am sure the Pegulas will address that in good time. Personally, I think it is a good, exciting gig for all the reasons mentioned by others. Remember, any coach has to sell his family on a 3+ year commitment to Buffalo. These guys are coaches. It's their "job". Their families see it as their "job"...a cross country move is a big deal whether you are a garbage man or a football coach. I have moved cross country twice and half way once - it's stressful. Owners in small markets will always have to overpay or over-empower to entice competitive coaching and front office candidates to join their organization. I don't think money will be an issue. They need to get the right organizational structure in place.
MarkyMannn Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Don't forget a wealthy owner that will spend on whatever you need. PTR, you do know where the Sabres team salary ranks in the NHL? He didn't spend there, and what he did was only to get to the NHL salary floor
PromoTheRobot Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) PTR, you do know where the Sabres team salary ranks in the NHL? He didn't spend there, and what he did was only to get to the NHL salary floorSo you're saying the guy who overpaid for the Bills by half a billion is going get cheap all of a sudden?? As for the Sabres, let me give you a little background. The reason the Sabres cap is so low is they traded all their high-priced vets for draft picks. So now you have a team of rookies with a handful of vets. Who should they be paying millions to? They are trying to lose!! Wait until they tank this year, get either McDavid or Eichel, then start spending lavishly on free agents again...you know, like they did before the tank! Maybe you were in a coma then? Are you familiar with names like Christian Ehrhoff, Robyn Regehr, and (shudder) Ville Leino? If you aren't fully familiar with Sabres history, resist the urge to use it against Pegula and the Bills Edited January 8, 2015 by PromoTheRobot
