Serious quesiton. Do you think Obama gives two ***** about what is happening over seas? Do you think he gives a **** how many troops actually die in the war? he can just spin off every damn thing to a war he didn't start and in his memoirs you sure bet he will but really go on about how he got ubl.

but, i can say with certainty, obama gives no ***** about troops over seas or americans dying on foreign soil or in this country unless it fits his agenda of racial division, inequality and hate.

but whats your take? please, wipe the sides of your mouth, stop chewing and than take a breath...you or lybob or any of you idiots please reply, too.

Dems the words. I feel a little William Wallace in them, like "I came to pick a fight". Enjoy the feast and don't phuck around with the rapier, but make good use of the sledge hammer.

USA TODAY COLUMN: The Qurans deadly role in inspiring Belgian slaughter. Nabeel Qureshi writes:

As a Muslim growing up in the United States, I was taught by my imams and the community around me that Islam is a religion of peace. My family modeled love for others and love for country, and not just by their words. My father served in the U.S. Navy throughout my childhood, starting as a seaman and retiring as a lieutenant commander. I believed wholeheartedly a slogan often repeated at my mosque after 9/11: The terrorists who hijacked the planes also hijacked Islam.

Yet as I began to investigate the Quran and the traditions of Muhammads life for myself in college, I found to my genuine surprise that the pages of Islamic history are filled with violence. How could I reconcile this with what I had always been taught about Islam?

Read the whole thing.

I'm sure you're happy with this guy's interpretation of the Quran. It fits your vision of Islam. But I can do the same thing with other people's interpretations as well. Who's right? Who's wrong?

Surah 9 verse 5

This verse is quoted during a battle. ...We know that America was once at war with Vietnam. Suppose the President of America or the General of the American Army told the American soldiers during the war: Wherever you find the Vietnamese, kill them. Today if I say that the American President said, Wherever you find Vietnamese, kill them without giving the context, I will make him sound like a butcher. But if I quote him in context, that he said it during a war, it will sound very logical, as he was trying to boost the morale of the American soldiers during the war. ...Similarly in Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 5 the Quran says, Kill the Mushriqs (pagans) where ever you find them, during a battle to boost the morale of the Muslim soldiers. What the Quran is telling Muslim soldiers is, dont be afraid during battle; wherever you find the enemies kill them. Surah Taubah chapter 9 verse 6 gives the answer to the allegation that Islam promotes violence, brutality and bloodshed. It says:

If one amongst the Pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge. [Al-Quran 9:6]

-Dr Naik

Surah 9 verse 29

This verse doesnt ask the Muslims to do mindless slaughter as the media portrays or deceives. It gives the Muslims the permission to fight only those non-Muslims who do not pay jizya the state tax. And we all know that jizya is applicable only in an Islamic state. Neither India, nor US or Britain are Islamic states. So to put this verse as an excuse for what happened there only shows how biased, unknowledgable and unfair the media is and it hurts us deeply.

Any chance that Islam might benefit from a refresh with updates including respect for the separation of church and state, tolerance of other religions and views on women?

Of course you do. The terrorists agree with you and him. The funny thing is the vast majority (99%) of Muslims in the world subscribe to Dr Naik's way of thinking because it's the truth.

No. It wouldn't and it shouldn't either. All of those issues you mentioned are cultural or political. The religion has nothing to do with it.

And if that 99% would ostracise the 1% who are the true infidels, the problem would go away. But they haven't. And don't give me the tired response that the majority of Muslims don't support terrorists. They don't. But it's clear that a large number also haven't stood up to the terrorists

Neither do people like baskin or gatorman, which is why they adore Obama so much.

So the religion has no responsibility in this and should just bury it's head? Good job of "move along folks, nothing to see here. Everything is peaching keen".

So taking that logic because most blacks living in urban areas are law abiding citizens black leaders should do nothing about black youth's involvement in gangs and related violence?

Just because you and many others think these extremist are not following the teachings of Islam they do. And until the leaders of Islam reach out to them and point out the errors of their ways nothing will ever change. By doing nothing the religious leaders are at least partly responsible.

That's just like saying we Americans need to stop mass shooters, domestic abusers and drug dealing. The majority of Muslims are average everyday people. They're not police. They're not soldiers.

Thank you Assad and Putin for doing your best to save world heritage and stop the slaughter of innocents, from a clear terrorist insurgency enabled by US and her "allies"

DAMASCUS, Syria -- Syrian government forces, backed by Russian airstrikes, on Thursday pushed into the ancient town of Palmyra, which has been held by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) since May, state TV reported.

How do you put those two things together like that? Is it on purpose?? Of course they should do everything in their power to prevent terrorism and in many instances they do. Many terrorist attacks are thwarted by information provided by Muslims. That's a fact.

Quite the cop out.

Am I wrong? Do you expect me to go investigate terror cells in America because I'm an American Muslim? Where would I even begin?

President Obama has sat for several interviews with Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic. Goldberg has written them up superbly.

http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/04/the-obama-doctrine/471525/

The interviews dealt with Obama’s worldview, basically: his foreign policy, his conception of America’s place in the world.

I’m going to comment on all this, in two sets of notes. The first is here. And I’d like to excerpt something — pardon the length — and then quote from a news story. Here’s the item I close today’s notes with:

Nowhere is Obama more misguided, I think, than in his understanding of the scope of the Muslim problem. Listen to him: “There is a violent, radical, fanatical, nihilistic interpretation of Islam by a faction — a tiny faction — within the Muslim community that is our enemy, and that has to be defeated.”

I grant you that a tiny portion — a teeny-tiny portion — of Muslims carry out atrocities: fly planes into buildings and so on. If that were the extent of our problem, we would have a happily manageable problem.

But a huge portion of Muslims either cheer on, defend, excuse, or don’t mind the tiny portion. And that is our problem.

{snip}

Why was Salah Abdeslam, from the Paris attacks, able to hide out for so long in that Brussels suburb? Because his neighbors were his fellow terrorists and murderers? No. Because they sympathized.
That is our problem.

Good job. Muslims have thwarted attacks. That's not what I'm talking about. Now let's try and find out why the extremists have hijacked your religion. How about doing something to prevent the extremist from using your religion as the reason for their violence. Does your religion not have leadership? Have your religious leaders convened to discuss how to prevent these extremist from becoming extremist in the first place?

So much this, it isn't even funny.

Horsecrap. All religions have their fundamentalist wackos, but the difference is that they're treated as pariahs by the vast majority of adherents and certainly don't receive monetary and operational support from that majority. It's time for Islam to step up and clean up its back yard.

If the Moslem/Islamic neighborhood of Brussels is (now, hopefully, was) both a no-go zone as well as the fount of terrorist activities, why would US officials not surveil similar areas in the US? At some earlier point in time, the neighborhood shifted from a gathering of those of similar culture to no-go areas, probably as a result of flying below the radar within the Belgian culture. Why do Democrats/liberals-in-general think it won't happen here? Think: Those who ignore the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them.
