GPS doesn't broadcast position. It tells you where you are.

You'd either have to be with the gun reading the GPS output, or put some sort of additional broadcasting mechanism on the gun. May as well just strap a smart phone to it.

This ABC News report flies in the face of Obama’s ‘Lone Wolf’ theory on Orlando terrorist

OMAR MATEEN’S PARADE OF THE RED FLAGS.

Better dead than rude.

Related: “On April 5, Mateen ‘quit-claimed’ the deed on his Port St. Lucie, Fla., house, signing it over to his sister, Sabrina Abasin, and his brother-in-law Mustafa Abasin for just $10 according to county property records. The records list his wife Noor Salman as a witness in the curious real estate transaction.” (why not to her ....Complicit? )

More: “Robert Abell, a co-owner of Lotus Gunworks in Jensen Beach, Florida, told ABC News today that a man entered the store five or six weeks ago and asked specific questions about high-end body armor. When employees said the store didn’t carry the body armor he wanted, Abell said, the man made a phone call in a foreign language, hung up and then asked about ammunition in bulk.” (Who did he call ?)

"Lone wolf" my azz !

You're assessment is pure conjecture.

All signs point to it. Do you have a better theory?

Brilliant! This is another facet of Clinton's Summer of Recover IX. She'll be putting her hubby in charge of revitalizing the economy because, well that's what he knows how to do. And this could be a key component of that - along the lines of the tens of billions of dollars that were spent on protecting us from the Y2K "bug". Think of it. By requiring that each of the 300 million guns in America to be tethered to a smart phone (no old-timey flip phones allowed folks, no siree!). That would require an enormous spend (even Trump would call it Yuge!).

Maybe Hill and Bill could work a deal with their Silicon Valley buddies to get a take from each phone sale as a contribution to the Clinton Foundation. Their old pal AlGore is on the board of Apple, and well, Google bends over for her like Mia Malkova on a hot shoot with Two-tone Malone, so I'm sure they'd be on board with this fantastic new initiative. It'd be at least a three run homer that would make Obamacare look like child's play in comparison. They'd know where everyone's guns were at any given time, they'd sell a lot of product for their friends in high places, and they'd get the favorite charity greased big time.

Of course it would do jack **** toward ending gun violence in the country - but that's not really the point of any of their gun legislation, now is it.

Justice Department doubles down on curbing Islamaphobia, but has no problem with media pointing fingers at conservative christians.

Already heard a liberal coworker label the Orlando (and Britain) shooters as right-wing conservatives.

What would prevent the government from putting everyone on a terror watch list (they already did it for many conservative groups) and effectively banning guns completely?

Nothing!

I (assume) that if they can be "put in, then they could be "taken out"; which any criminal would do.

Just remove the battery.

Of course it's possible, but how is GPS going to be tracked indoors?

Worse yet ... how is it going to work in a gun locker.

Like those tags on mattresses.

Those things scare me. I'll cheat on my taxes and knock over a liquor store before I remove the tag from a mattress.

What the !@#$? How is DHS now the language police?

Language police? No.

Money launderers? Probably.

From the article:

The Homeland Security Advisory Council report recommends that the department focus on American milliennials by allocating up to $100 million in new funding.

Can they install gps tracking devices in every gun made from here on out? That way when a gun shows up at the wrong or suspicious place an alarm can be triggered? Is that even possible?

Your assumption is that there are certain places guns don't belong? So if I choose to carry I have to avoid certain places, even if I don't plan to shoot it up?

Good work media.......................another successful job.

Gallup surveyed the public about the attack, just 29% of Democrats said that it was an act of Islamic terrorism.

Almost two-thirds considered it just another act of "domestic gun violence."

Even Independents seemed confused, with just 44% saying it was an act of Islamic terror.

Among Republicans, 79% said it was an act of terrorism.

We may not have the technology to place gps type trackers in guns just yet, but eventually we will. My idea is when you purchase a gun and plan on taking it out to the range or hunt you would have to get a permit explaining exactly where and when you'd be leaving your residence. That way the authorities don't need an exact position right away to save lives. As soon as they illegally remove their firearm from their home then the alarm can get triggered and then the police should have enough time to catch you before you get to your targeted location. Just an idea. At least it's something.

And it likely wasn't an act of Islamic terror, either.

Hey Justice, we already have a law like that on the books in New Jersey.

You can only transport firearms in a vehicle if it's unloaded, locked in a compartment that the driver has no access to within the cab (e.g., the trunk, or a locker in the back of a pickup). Furthermore, you must be on a direct course to the location you started from (home), and the place where you will be using the firearm(s). No stopping along the way is allowed. If you so much as divert your course to go get gas, or stop at a Wendy's, or whatever, and a cop pulls you over... you're screwed.

You think that stops the kids in Newark, Camden, and Trenton from carrying and transporting them all over the state and beyond?

You think that stops the mob and other criminals in New Jersey and New York from carrying and transporting theirs all over the state and beyond?

It's not something....it's a ridiculously stupid idea.

Tell me something. Why is it that one terrorist goes through the proper legal channels to purchase a gun to kill 50 people in an isolated room, and everyone on the left wants more gun control

But go into Chicago and Detroit, where gangbangers use stolen guns to murder 50 Americans EVERY PHUCKING MONTH...and we hear nothing. Not a ;damn word. In fact, the leftists had full control of the WH, House and Senate, and do you remember all the gun laws they passed?

Exactly. Billions on stimulus to launder money to donors, but who really cares about the negros killing each other every weekend, amirite?

When you all care about the minorities getting killed every month like you care about one Orlando headline, the maybe we'll take these ridiculous gun control ideas more seriously.

As it is now, everyone just wants to do something so they can feel better about themselves. And it's phucking pathetic.

Getting pulled over by chance is different than my idea.

If it prevents one shooting it's worth doing.
