Justice
Read the commentary on reddit & other sites. He wasn't the only one blocking the door and it's one of the situations where you don't act rationally in an adrenaline induced fog. In these cases, self-preservation instinct usually kicks in to the detriment of others. Only highly trained people can overcome the natural instincts. I wouldn't have done that. I would've ran as fast and as far away as I could. He's probably gonna hear the pounding on that door the rest of his life.
Ozymandius
Chris Callen, who worked at Pulse as a performer, told CNN's Anderson Cooper he'd seen Mateen dozens of times at the club. According to his estimate, Mateen visited Pulse twice a month over a period of three years. "He was very friendly when we said hi. He didn't seem like the kind of guy who just did what he did. It makes no sense," Callen said. "My partner said that he was very nice [and seemed] comfortable. Pulse regular Kevin West told the Los Angeles Times that Mateen messaged him on a gay dating app several times in the year before the attack. http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/14/us/orlando-shooter-omar-mateen/index.html

He's probably gonna hear the pounding on that door the rest of his life. You don't know that. Everyone reacts differently when adrenaline takes over and self-preservation kicks in. According to the guy, the back door led to a narrow alley and there were many of them trying to squeeze through a fence. They heard the gunshots getting closer and that's when they held the door shut to prevent him from going outside. In the process they probably trapped more victims inside. Can't make judgments on people's actions when they're not trained for disaster.

More and more it looks like a gay man who was raised by a father/religion that hates gays. Oomph. So a gay Muslim yells 'allahu akbar' before murdering 50 homosexuals in a gay nightclub with an AR-15 that wasn't an AR-15? Must be a very conflicting time for all the liberals in America. Very conflicting.

B-Man
http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0616/colon061416.php3 After Orlando, the Spin begins by Alecia Colon The horrific attack at an Orlando gay bar by a Muslim who had sworn allegiance to Isis is probably going to be spun as a hate crime. The killer's father has already told the media that his son was disgusted by the sight of a man kissing another man. See! It's homophobia: an assault on the civil rights of the LGBTQ community. Now let's wait for the video to appear that will explain what drove Omar Mateen to slaughter 50 people and wound 53 others. The fact that it is Ramadan and that Omar was well trained and shouted Allahu Akbar while shooting the innocents will be dismissed as well as the fact that he was a registered Democrat. The blame will instead be put on Donald Trump's hateful rhetoric and the NRA gun crowd. On ABC, liberal iconic journalist, Tom Brokaw just had to blame the slaughter on the popularity of guns in America. He intoned, "Everything seems to get settled by a gun for whatever reasons." Of course, liberals never seem to address the fact that criminals and terrorists have no problem getting guns nor do they ever mention the times that guns in the right hands sometimes prevents carnage. Since the Democrats and Obama took office in 2009, there have been several mass killings in spite of the heavy gun control legislation in place. These incidents are more likely to take place in gun-free areas where the innocent unarmed are easy targets. More at the link:
Deranged Rhino
Can't let a good tragedy go to waste, after all... Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton Call for Bombing ISIS After Orlando Shooting That ISIS Didn’t Direct “We have generals that feel we can win this thing so fast and so strong, but we have to be furious for a short period of time, and we’re not doing it!” Trump complained on Fox & Friends Monday morning. “Are you saying hit Raqqa right now?” asked host Brian Kilmeade. “We’re going to have to start thinking about something,” Trump replied. Along the same lines, Clinton suggested during her post-Orlando speech Monday afternoon that “We should keep the pressure on ramping up the air campaign.” Both candidates neglected to consider that no operational links between ISIS and the alleged Orlando shooter, Omar Mateen, have been discovered. B-Man
The murder of two police officials by a man claiming allegiance to so-called Islamic State (IS) is “unquestionably a terrorist act”, President Francois Hollande says. The French aren’t deflecting blame with euphemisms like “homegrown extremism.”
IDBillzFan
How is it conflicting? Because when something like this happens, the left needs to point fingers, and their preference is to blame, in no particular order: whites, Republicans, Christians, Islamophobes, gay-bashers, gun-worshippers. This guy is none of those things, and in fact turns out to be a gay dark-skinned Muslim Democrat who bought his guns legally and went on to murder 50 homosexuals. The finger pointing from the left is so bad, even Sally Kohn of CNN has opted to blame this on the Christian right because she simply had no idea how to just shut up and let the facts come out. If you removed the ability to point fingers and assign blame, the political left would vanish.
Dorkington
Whether he's directly connected or not, doesn't really make a huge difference in my mind. He's at the very least a sympathizer, making ISIS at least partially responsible. This event is an act of terrorism. It's also a lone-wolf mass shooter. And it's also a hate crime (ironically, by a self loathing gay man). A lot of people are speaking in absolutes about this, when it doesn't appear to be so neatly categorized. - Signed, Finger Pointing Lefty Liberal Edited June 14, 2016 by Dorkington

Deranged Rhino
Which is meaningless. Making this about terrorism, instead of the horrible crime that it is, changes the narrative dramatically and is as disingenuous as it is to make this about gun control. He may have chosen that location simply because he was familiar with it and that it was an easy target. This may simply be another terrorist attack inspired by the radical islamic cause. I think the left better start using the mental illness excuse. There aren't many other good options at this point.
