NoSaint Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) Espn reporting just now on TV that the rift started on draft day. Schefter says he's received accounts ranging from walked out of to stormed out of the room when the trade happened Edited January 4, 2015 by NoSaint
Coach Tuesday Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Just saw that. No doubt it's counter-spin by Team Marrone to rehabilitate his reputation a bit.
FireChan Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Just saw that. No doubt it's counter-spin by Team Marrone to rehabilitate his reputation a bit. Because it couldn't be true or..?
YoloinOhio Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) So they didn't tell him beforehand they were going to trade up? That is crazy. It was reported for weeks that the Bills were looking to move up for a WR. What did he think they would need to give up for Sammy, a bag of footballs? Just seems nuts he wouldn't have known. BRAWNDO Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Just saw that. No doubt it's counter-spin by Team Marrone to rehabilitate his reputation a bit. This was my thought after especially after the article in the New York Daily News yesterday.
NoSaint Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 There might be some truth- It seemed whaley wanted perimeter playmakers and somewhere between his hire and year 2 marrone got very conservative. 3 TE sets, and such. Maybe he was big into Ebron? Something like this would match KTDs sentiments that whaley was frustrated that marrone took a left turn in philosophy without including the rest of the organization
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I thought there were cameras in the draft room. I recall watching the footage. Would like to go back now and see marrone in there.

Possible he knew and didn't want it, and was upset when it went through? Not hard to reconcile the story to what happened- but doesn't make it true either, obviously
Deranged Rhino Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Because it couldn't be true or..? There's video of the event. No storming out, all smiles and handshakes.
YoloinOhio Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 He was probably scared because he had no idea how to use him.
bananathumb Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 The only tantrum of Marrone's that I support.
Doc Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Poor baby. Whaley was trying to help Marrone fix his woeful offense and that's the thanks he gets?
NoSaint Posted January 4, 2015 Author Posted January 4, 2015 I thought there were cameras in the draft room. I recall watching the footage. Would like to go back now and see marrone in there. I'd be curious too- I didn't recall any sentiment like this at the time but maybe I wasn't looking for it? And clearky the team wouldn't show his displeasure but I'd be curious whether he was in on the happiness
FireChan Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 There's video of the event. No storming out, all smiles and handshakes. Very possibly staged. It wouldn't be the first draft day "event" that was planned.
YoloinOhio Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I do remember a report that he didn't support the trade.
Coach Tuesday Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Very possibly staged. It wouldn't be the first draft day "event" that was planned. Definitely. If you look closely, it's the same set as the one they used for the lunar landing.
Nitro Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I saw the Schefter report too. If true, the rift between Whaley and Marrone started over the trade, then I am glad he is gone. Marrone has come across since the end of the season as petty, thin skinned and a bit of a diva.
YoloinOhio Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 The actual Draft Day movie pales in comparison to the drama at OBD.
