Tyrod's Tailor Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk 18s19 seconds ago It's now undeniable that Bills ownership was negotiating with Bill Polian and current CEO Russ Brandon had no idea it was happening. drama kicking into overdrive now.
Kelly the Dog Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Yeah, I read those quotes as basically, "They were going to pay me a lot of money to do very little and when it became clear to me I'd have to put in a lot of work it didn't sound like a great job." I like Polian. I would have been happy to have him in Buffalo as a consultant or czar. But I didn't want him having any real power. He's the ultimate manipulator, which you have to be to some degree to be a GM. But he wasn't going to be doing any real GM duties anyway. He wasn't going to studying film. So we have to take his comments with a little grain of salt. He wasn't coming here to be GM. Ever.
YoloinOhio Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I do not know what to believe. December 31 - reports that Marrone opted out because he was afraid of football czar - i.e Polian. January 1 - reports that Polian had a change of heart because Marrone left. One of the above might make sense, but not BOTH. the first one is from the national media. So I believe the second one.

Doubtful. Just shows how little PFT understands of the front office role Brandon plays.
Reed83HOF Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora 1m1 minute ago Very surprised Bill Polian chose ESPN over the Bills. Terry Pegula very much wanted him. Bizarre 24 hours for the franchise
BRH Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 If this means Brandon is staying, then why would we expect the next 15 years to be different from the last 15?
dave mcbride Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Marrone IS a jerk, but what is it about the organization that he finds so terrible? Who does he dislike? Presumably Whaley, but who else? I thought Whaley would be a goner, but it looks like he may be the last man standing in this clusterf**k. I have a hunch Schwartz will get the head coaching job now ...

Lurker Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/01/polians-return-to-bills-breaks-down-over-money/ Florio is an idiot. Daddy Pegs would never let money stop any negotiation...
K-9 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk 18s19 seconds ago It's now undeniable that Bills ownership was negotiating with Bill Polian and current CEO Russ Brandon had no idea it was happening. Except RB hasn't been CEO since the Pegulas took over. GO BILLS!!!
flmike Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I do not know what to believe. December 31 - reports that Marrone opted out because he was afraid of football czar - i.e Polian. January 1 - reports that Polian had a change of heart because Marrone left. One of the above might make sense, but not BOTH. Yeah, it's a mess and no one on the Bills is stepping up to clear it up. Too many leaks. Terry didn't build a business this way. Polian has to stay away now or he looks like an idiot. If he was that enamored of Marrone, then he is one.
Tyrod's Tailor Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Except RB hasn't been CEO since the Pegulas took over. GO BILLS!!! Florio just repeated that error in his most recent post. He's shameless. I saw people pointing out what wrote above to him directly, too.
Kelly the Dog Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Except RB hasn't been CEO since the Pegulas took over. GO BILLS!!! That article was ridiculous.
YoloinOhio Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 This seems chaotic on Jan 1. But long term, this is probably for the best. Marrone looks more and more terrible and if Polian was such a huge supporter it might spell trouble.
BRH Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 The only problem is, because it looks so chaotic, it could create a snowball effect that scares away other good coaching candidates.
Helpmenow Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Marrone ripped the organization to Polian? Who did he rip? The pegulas? I don't believe anything on this board. Marrone ripping his former boss, bad frigging move
