Hapless Bills Fan Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 @ByTimGraham reporting that Jim Schwartz has been interviewed. I'm still very conflicted. Would love to keep continuity of the coaching staff, players love him (on both sides of the ball apparently), and has has a good football mind. His piece on the Cleveland documentary was interesting. But what's his offensive philosophy? Who is his OC that can come in and either develop EJ or get the playmakers the ball with someone else. He doesn't come off as conservative to me. Presumably those are all questions that were asked. Keep in mind with all the HC fired there should be good people available Not sure what is meant by "his piece on the Cleveland documentary", can you expand please?
RyanC883 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I'd love to see this: Schwartz: HC Pepper Johnson: DC Linehan or Reich: OC Hackett: offensive position coach of some sort.
Dirtbag Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I don't want him. We need Ben McAdoo, maybe he can make Sammy be a poor mans ODB If Sammy was targeted as much as OBDJr he'd be a rich man version reed was talking about ol' dirty bastard, not obd jr. personally, i think the bills would be lucky to score a poor man's odb.
Big C Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I want Schwartz on our side however it shakes out.
Lombardi1 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) How many people think it was a coincidence we went 4-0 vs nfc north this year? You guys think schwartz had more to do with that or st. Sh*tforbrains? Id be happy w schwartz as HC. Better than many of the clowns being considered. 4-0 well done, Coach Schwartz. Quite an amazing accomplishment to say the least. and St. Doug thought he was responsible for this year's winning record. Riighttt... Edited January 7, 2015 by Lombardi1
Kelly the Dog Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I'd love to see this: Schwartz: HC Pepper Johnson: DC Linehan or Reich: OC Hackett: offensive position coach of some sort. I can't see Reich being an OC. Maybe, but I really doubt it. From everything I know he really doesn't have an offensive system, and he's certainly never run one. I assume he's probably put one together of some kind, but he's never ever tried it anywhere. No thanks.

GG Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Wasnt Reich OC this yr? Maybe im having a brain fart Yes he was. Won't take a sideways move with a worse QB situation.
Kelly the Dog Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Wasnt Reich OC this yr? Maybe im having a brain fart He was and he called plays. But it was completely Mike McCoy's the HC's offense. McCoy was hired because of his offense he was bringing to the Chargers. Reich was the OC this year but it wasn't like he was running his offense. He's a good coach, don't get me wrong. Probably very good with QBs. He could become the HC of the Bills, but he would be following the Mike Tomlin or Marv Levy model, as an overall manager. he would have someone run the offense and probably Schwartz run the defense. But I sincerely doubt he would run his own system on O. Perhaps he has it stashed. Yes he was. Won't take a sideways move with a worse QB situation. But he ran McCoy's offense not his.
TakeYouToTasker Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I don't want him. We need Ben McAdoo, maybe he can make Sammy be a poor mans ODBAndre Reed only posted years better than Sammy Watkins 2014 season four times. In fact, Reed didn't have a season as Watkin's rookie year until his own fourth season; and Reed's career average season, even if we toss out his first and final seasons as well as his injury year, aren't as good as Watkin's first season.
Reed83HOF Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) reed was talking about ol' dirty bastard, not obd jr. personally, i think the bills would be lucky to score a poor man's odb. LOL. That turned out to be pretty funny... Andre Reed only posted years better than Sammy Watkins 2014 season four times. I can't believe how impossible to compare offensive players from different eras now...Defense has been marginalized so much. We won the 91 AFC Championship game 10-7. Personally id rather have Reich be in the OC role a couple more years before giving him a HC position.

(I'd take Sparano if he is fired).
juno999 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Schwartz is a very, very smart guy and I bet gave a great interview. Whaley and Brandon would obviously know him well, but I bet he blows the Pegulas away. He probably articulated a dozen ways why the Bills offense failed, knowing how to combat them so well. If I had to bet, he would get the job. The only other way I see it happening is Gase or Bevell or Shanny running the offense and Schwartz staying and being left alone, and Daddy Warbucks making Schwartz the highest paid coordinator in the league, or close to it. Pure guess on my part but I see them hiring a HC coach with offensive background like Bevell or Jackson and giving Schwartz a pay raise and possibly extension as DC or Assistant HC.
Doc Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I didnt realize he had just a one year deal....interesting. I would love Schwartz to stayw here he is as DC. Schwartz has a 1-year deal?
Reed83HOF Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Schwartz has a 1-year deal? he's signed through 2016

Kelly the Dog Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I see what youre saying. Personally id rather have Reich be in the OC role a couple more years before giving him a HC position. Yeah, I am torn about him. He could probably do it now. He's known as being very smart, a very good motivator, and very good teacher. But he's never been in charge of anything. Playing all those years under Marv he saw how it was done but it's not the same thing. He's very highly respected though. Tomlin did it almost the same way with the Steelers. he had only one year as a DC with the Vikings, and then he didn't even use his defense when he came to the Steelers. He let LeBeau do it (or was made to) and let the OC run the offense. It worked pretty good. Who do you like for OC in my scenario if we can't get Linehan? Would Lane Kiffin from Alabama be a decent hire? Would one of the recently fired HC's work? (I'd take Sparano if he is fired). That's a tough one. I hate Lane Kiffin although he may be a decent OC. I doubt he leaves his job. I'm not a Sparano fan at all, although he has had some decent results. Kyle Shanahan maybe. Dirk Koetter is a pretty good offensive mind. There are probably guys out there I am not thinking of.
