YoloinOhio Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 How is this guy with training QBs is the biggest question IMO. Whoever the OC is, that's more than likely going to define how far the Bills go for the next few seasons. It's a pretty sure bet Rex won't be doing that.kap is not an accurate QB. Roman has had to scheme around it. This is key.
Buffaloed in Pa Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Yea, I mentioned that the QB play had fallen off in SF. I'm thinking all those running QB's are no longer doing as well as they did in their first few years, except Russell Wilson. It will be interesting this year, and all I can say is I'm happy as hell that Hackett is history He needs to go back to the college game where be belongs. Yeah its become a passing league and he can`t pass. Lot of down field passes to fullbacks and Sammy blocking. Just great.
Doc Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Roman had an oline riddled with injuries last year, and his head coach had checked out by October. I can't really fault him for the way things went down. He is light years better than Nate Hackett. Boldin, Gore, and Davis are also in decline.
dave mcbride Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Let me jump on the bandwagon noting how unloved Roman is in the Bay Area where they're surprised Roman's getting HC and OC consideration. http://www.sfgate.com/49ers/article/Go-figure-49ers-Roman-hot-candidate-5997808.php GM Trent Baalke's daughter tweeted this about Roman after the 9ers lost to Seattle 19-3 on Thanksgiving, “The 49ers don’t want you no more.” As a curious counterpoint to the stats FeartheLosing shared, in 2014 SF was the #30 passing team in 2013 SF was the #30 passing team in 2012 SF was the #23 passing team in 2011 SF was the #29 passing team I trust football outsiders far more than raw yardage stats.
FLFan Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Here is a great story on Romanhttp://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--offensive-guru-and-coaching-candidate-greg-roman-a-victim-of-his--niners--success-022509392.html Great article. Thanks. I don't know what happened last year, but the SF offense had been pretty darn good before. Stats don't tell the whole story. Willing to keep an open mind.
CodeMonkey Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) kap is not an accurate QB. Roman has had to scheme around it. This is key. EJ is no Kaep. At least not now. But I get your point. Edited January 11, 2015 by CodeMonkey
YoloinOhio Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 @ChrisTrapasso: Best way for EJ to develop (same philosophy Marrone abandoned) = operate "take what's there" O driven by run & lean on D. The SF / SEA model EJ is no Kaep. At least not now. But I get your point.sorry thought that went without saying!
The Voice of Truth Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 My prediction: There will be no more treating EJ Manuel like he is a fragile piece of glass. He is going to be asked to run the ball in the read option even if that means taking hits. My bolder prediction: The Bills will trade next yer's first round pick and this years 2nd round pick to trade up and take a QB. Manuel and the new guy will compete for the job.
C.Biscuit97 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 They play smart football and to their strengths. I kinda wanted an Art Briles type but this makes a lot of sense. If they decide to go with EJ, this could be the perfect situation. Lots of running and play actions. EJ is no Kaep. At least not now. But I get your point. That's faur at this point. But Kaep didn't play until his second year and got to learn under Harbaugh. EJ learned under Hackett and Marrone. Huge difference.

YoloinOhio Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 @ChrisTrapasso: Handful of games when #Bills oddly abandoned run, most egregiously vs HOU when EJ got benched. That abandonment won't happen w/ Rex & Roman.
thewildrabbit Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I just hope that the Bills FO gets it together to build a top O line for Roman, and his offense.

YoloinOhio Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 @BuffaloWins: http://t.co/CiPeWHSYPlwrote this last week about Greg Roman's pros and cons. Also had insight from a 49ers writer
C.Biscuit97 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I just hope that the Bills FO gets it together to build a top O line for Roman, and his offense. Given his situation in SF and Rex in NJ, they really value olines. We have some nice pieces all ready. I can see a big FA signing at G.
Buffaloed in Pa Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Wow. No QB here and a O.C. with a horrible passing game. Excited.
RealityCheck Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I just hope that the Bills FO gets it together to build a top O line for Roman, and his offense. Good point. They can only cycle through so many coaches before it becomes clear that the offense is very weak from the football out. That has been a constant.
C.Biscuit97 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Wow. No QB here and a O.C. with a horrible passing game. Excited. 3 title games and 1 SB appearance in 4 years. A bad year for him was 8-8 and that is a SB parade here.
YoloinOhio Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Wow. No QB here and a O.C. with a horrible passing game. Excited.Fortunately TC doesn't start for over 7 months. Doubt El Pegual is done
Doc Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 3 title games and 1 SB appearance in 4 years. A bad year for him was 8-8 and that is a SB parade here. And against a division with the best defenses in football.
