NoSaint Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Bills fans never appreciate the good they have. They only focus on the bad. A miserable way to live. would that qualify as better or worse than focusing on the bad of fellow fans?

How many Toronto games did you go to ? How many did we win? I guess you like selling off home field advantage? For the almighty buck!Oh, and he sucked as a GM at least Ralph figured that out quick.
TSOL Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 When speaking of "The Holy Trinity" currently being Russ, Whaley, and Marrone, until someone delivers us a Superbowl, i will not hang on any of their jocks. They all suck in my eyes, until we take our rightful place as world champs. Marketing be damned.
keepthefaith Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Not sure why he would go there with the uncertainty of that team's future. Plus he is from WNY. Money, weather and maybe he won't have a job with the Bills much longer. Hard to know what the Pegula's might do this off-season.

Best Player Available Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 You mean the almighty buck that kept the Bills afloat? Sure. Never heard the Bills had cash flow issues? In fact Ralph turned a nice profit before he flecced Toronto. If your talking regionilization didn't need the Toronto fleccing at all. That Was strictly a money grab.
Maguire's Beer Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 I actually believe that the work Russ Brandon did over the past decade contributed in no small part to the situation we have now, where the Bills will remain in Buffalo for decades to come. I further believe that he is woefully underappreciated by most Bills fans. That said - if he takes Doug Marrone to Oakland I will laugh till I pass out.

apuszczalowski Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Lol, selling off hone field advantage? No one stopped Bills fans from attending those games and cheering on their team to make it "home field". Instead fans stayed at home throwing temper tantrums about losing a late season game that would have been a blackout threat to bring the organisation in some much need funds. This from a fan base that wanted Ralph to remove his name from a building he didn't own so that naming rights could be sold for a fraction of what the team made spreading the joy of Bills football to Toronto. It's always funny to watch the tantrums thrown here by "fans" trying to run guys out of town because they think someone is the main reason for this team not being a contender every year, and thinking things can't be any worse. Comparing this franchise to Oakland? Oakland fans wish they could have had the Bills last decade.
Nick the Greek Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Please, Please, Please take him. Then the last of the remaining stench will be gone. he's knee deep in the culture of losing over the past 14 years

Kirby Jackson Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 agreed - i could see him getting a broadened role, like we saw with some of the saints guys after benson bought the hornets/pelicans That is exactly what I think. He will play the Dennis Lausha role (but Russ is about 50,000,000 times more talented).
707BillsFan Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Here is my question. Is Brandon the tie that keeps the Bills @ St John Fisher? If he leaves and the Fisher contract is up in 2016 (from what I've seen posted), Does that mean training camp will eventually move elsewhere? I sure hope not.. "Pegula on training camp: I've never been to St. John Fisher. Russ Brandon: "It's a good spot". Pegula: "Then it's a done deal!""
bananathumb Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Oakland is too far from Rochester. Brandon would get homesick.
The Wiz Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 If Pegula structures the front office so Russ is in charge of business and marketing then I absolutely want him to stay. If he's going to be meeting with the GM and HC on future personnel decisions then I want him gone. I believe that part of his job was removed with the new ownership. He was President/CEO but now is just president. I believe that is only the business side now.
BuffaloRebound Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Wouldn't surprise me if Brandon leaves. Bills are a stable organization now. Brandon more of a distressed organization specialist.
dave mcbride Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) Wouldn't surprise me if Brandon leaves. Bills are a stable organization now. Brandon more of a distressed organization specialist. Good point. Also, working for Pegula would be the first time he worked for a non-mercurial owner (Ralph, Luria). He'd feel more at home with the Davis family. Edited December 31, 2014 by dave mcbride
hondo in seattle Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 The Bills may not be a winning football team but they are a viable business - despite a small market and losing record. That business success is largely due to Russ Brandon. I'm not sure how much the losing record has to do with Russ - if at all - but I don't think Pegula is going to use Russ in the future for football decisions. I personally hope Russ stays and that Whaley turns out to be as good at his job as Brandon is as President.
Kirby Jackson Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Russ has managed to generate LOTS of nonshared revenue for a small market team with an old stadium. That is why he is so well respected around sports. As fans we don't think that this matter to us but understand that the cap raises a lot each year and each team doesn't make the same. The Patriots for example generate way, way, way more money than the Bills. The cap is a function of overall revenue not just shared revenue. The teams that make more nonshared revenue push the cap higher and higher and small market teams will have a hard time keeping up. Russ has proven to be a master of that and with a new stadium will do even more. Be careful what you wish for because regardless of Pegula's money the gap is closing between the cap and the shared revenue. You are going to want someone to generate the nonshared portion. If you don't understand that then you don't understand what Russ Brandon's job is or has always been.
