ricojes
He's not a great QB, but I like the guy. http://www.theguardi...e-nfls-liberals Very good backup, put in a bad position this season. Bills much better off with him retiring...

boyst
Stupid, horrible article. The Buffalo News one was good. It was quick and easy kept your attention. This is pretentious and almost seems far fetched. Screw Orton's kitty ass.

rumblefish
bad article?, giving another side of a man, not a football player, actually we give him credit for being his own man, and can see why he may have felt that no other explanation was necessary for is announcement, it was short and to the point, the jackals will have to cut their teeth on some one else,Kyle Orton has left the building, on his terms, good for him
PromoTheRobot
That's a very nice article. Even gets what Bills fan felt about Orton. I could see Kyle running for office one day.
HereComesTheReignAgain
I thought the 1%ers were evil. I'm confused, should liberals hate him because he is rich and successful, or like him because he drives a hybrid. What exactly was the point the author was gunning for here? boyst
Political comantary mostly ... this is why it is bad. that and its a retread from the bufflalo news article earlier this year. bad article?, giving another side of a man, not a football player, actually we give him credit for being his own man, and can see why he may have felt that no other explanation was necessary for is announcement, it was short and to the point, the jackals will have to cut their teeth on some one else,Kyle Orton has left the building, on his terms, good for him i think you misunderstand why it is bad. it is bad because it is exactly the same thing TBN said a month ago. He was never a good QB, he was always an average at best QB. He was always a QB who never seemed to have the fire, the heart, the desire to play the most demanding position in the game. He has never seemed to carry anything less then his agenda to the field. His me first attitude is represented in his political viewpoints and personal beliefs - which is great, I support that. I am glad he is not a Tim Tebow blowhard dolt who follows the status quo of the good ol' boy. Orton is self studied and a man made of his own principles - that's a great thing for any man to be. But, he is a crappy QB and his personal beliefs and demeanor are exhibit A for why you do not want him under center. This article glorifies his beliefs for nothing. He is, truly, no different then the common man in his beliefs. He just happened to play QB and for that he gets celebrated as someone seemingly against the grain. He gets lauded for his opinions and expression while the Rams players and others who are outspoken in their politics get criticized.
Lurker
Political commentary mostly ... Agreed. More like a projection of the writers' personal viewpoints onto Orton than a profile of Kyle's own thinking.

dave mcbride
Geez -- I just that thought it was cool that the goddamn Guardian -- truly one of the world's most famous and distinguished newspapers -- deigned to publish something about Kyle Freaking Orton!! Magox
So basically, calling out people for perpetuating untruths are people who we should marginalize. Got it!
hondo in seattle
I thought it was a well-written article and cool to see something Bills related in The Guardian. It's good to be reminded that football players aren't all about money, fame and sex.

I'm confused, should liberals hate him because he is rich and successful, or like him because he drives a hybrid. What exactly was the point the author was gunning for here? i think the point was to allow readers to reflect upon the level of silliness of the author. KO drives a Prius...and played football in the NFL. The carbon footprint of the leviathan called the NFL must be massive. KO's personal carbon footprint must be massive as well. But...he gets 40 miles to the gallon so it's all good.
