You could also go to the reverse with Chandlers miracle 4th down catch against Minnesota and Chris Hogans catch at the 1 yard line. We SHOULD have lost that game but we didnt.

Also we got lucky with a drop by Brandon Marshall week 1 vs the Bears.

Or Jordy Nelsons drop of a sure thing 93 yard TD..

Its a game of inches. One play can change anything so these what if scenarios are pointless. What happened happened.

I'm with this guy. You have to love how every year, we have some fans cherry picking the "could have been" plays, while ignoring the plays that actually happened. Sure, if the plays identified go the other way, the team makes the playoffs. Like you say though too, how many plays cut the other way? There's a lot that go both ways. It comes down to beating the teams that you should beat and having a chance against teams that should or are better than you. When I look at this season, I see two games the Bills probably shouldn't have won. Detroit on the road and Green Bay at home. These two teams are clearly better than the Bills. I don't count week 17 because the Patriots sat their starters for the most part. Even if you count it, that's 3 wins against teams above 0.500. Now when I look at the losses, there are only 2 teams with 0.500 or worse records. The Bills clearly should have beaten Oakland, but Miami was still a decent team. The combined record of their wins is 70-74. The combined record of their losses is 62-50. Very clearly to me, this team still needs to improve and I would say it's almost 100% on the offense. Cherry picking a couple plays really doesn't mean a lot to me.

Thanks Luxy312 I will run all future posts by you first and see which ones mean a lot to you.

You mean that some of the Bills plays could have went awry and against the Bills? Shocker.

Every year we talk about "if only we didn't do this... in a handful of games/situations... we would be in the playoffs... we're better than our record!"

Every, freaking, year.

OK, if that's what you need to do. So what exactly is your value added commentary? It's like revisiting the draft and saying that the Bills could have been better off not trading for Sammy Watkins and instead just drafting Beckham or Evans with their 9th pick. Kind of short-bus commentary. Duh.....we get it.

Fifteen years of what ifs. Heck, we were one play from winning Super Bowl 25.

Yup, and an onsides kick away from not beating the Oilers. Same difference.

Plus if Detroit has a high end high school FG kicker we lose that one too. So the Chiefs/Texans losses wash out against the Minn/Det wins. As Parcells says, you are what your record says you are. We are a 9-7, maybe 8-8 type team. A QB and O Line away from 10-6, maybe 11-5. We shall see. That seems a long way away, but we shall see. New owner needs to step up .

Do you all honestly believe the Bills are a playoff caliber team?

I think with average play calling on offense we could have been 13-3. The only game we couldn't have won was the first New England game. So, with our coaching are we a playoff team? NO! With an average coach we are a strong playoff team. Everyone singing Marrone's graces because we had our best year in 10 years is narrow minded. Our roster is much better than 9-7.

Its like people in business who say "this year profits were up 400%". Well from $100...400% is $40 000. Well if you should be making $200 000 that sucks...but someone is spinning it as up 400%. Or being up 400% from zero is still zero!!

(it actually be $400.00)

If the numbers look bad always use percentages!

The Bills grew their wins 150% year over year.

Don't agree.

There is really only 1 question.

Who is the QB?

It is kind of a big deal but the other questions are pretty minor.

You can find a speed rusher to replace Hughes - not that worried with the rest of the D-Line intact.

A TE is overdue but not a big deal.

Spiller isn't a loss. We can find someone else than can dance in a hole and fumble the ball.

If Hacket leaves and the Burgard Football OC were hired it would be an upgrade.

If anything there are the least amount of questions from any year this millenium going from 2014 to 2015

It just happens to be a huge question. Who is your starting QB?

Yup - and it really is that simple

The Bills were also a couple of plays from 7-9. You can play that game all day long, with just about every team besides the ones that really stink.

What games do you think they were close to losing?

I haven't heard that before.

Detroit missed something like a hundred FGs and the Bills needed a circus catch from Sammy and a 58-yard FG to win.

Chicago. Bears don't fumble throw a pick in 4th quarter and they win.

Green Bay. Nelson doesn't drop 90 yard TD and that game is down to the wire.

Minnesota. Chandler doesn't catch 4th down pass, Hogan doesn't make circus catch, Orton doesn't hit Sammy on last play.

This is too easy.

Seriously though,

If these two plays are not turnovers the Bills are the 6th seed and the Bengals are out of the playoffs.

10/12/14 Panthers vs Bengals:

  • McKelvin, every time you touch the ball, I assume you're going to fumble. I don't blame you for this fumble. I blame the freaking genius that lets you field punts.

I know it's trite but the good teams always end up on the other side of this coin..... They make those one or two plays that get them into the tourney
