1B4IDie Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) Seriously though, If these two plays are not turnovers the Bills are the 6th seed and the Bengals are out of the playoffs. 10/12/14 Panthers vs Bengals: http://www.nfl.com/g...ap3000000409362 4th QTR: Carolina Panthers at 04:32 3-13-CAR 29(3:36) (Shotgun) 1-C.Newton pass deep middle intended for 13-K.Benjamin INTERCEPTED by 20-R.Nelson at CIN 45. 20-R.Nelson ran ob at CAR 24 for 31 yards (67-R.Kalil). That interception set up a FG that would give the Bengals a 3 point lead. http://www.nfl.com/g...ap3000000425018 11/9/14 Chiefs vs Bills: 3rd QTR: 2-10-KC 17(9:54) (Shotgun) 35-B.Brown right tackle to KC 5 for 12 yards (38-R.Parker). FUMBLES (38-R.Parker), ball out of bounds in End Zone, Touchback. Ball bounced out of back of end zone. Damn it Chandler!!! Fall on the flippin' Ball!!!! You practice the fumble drill your entire life, then when you need to fall on the ball, you do what???? What do you do? Try to catch a fumbly, wumbly, flipping, dipping spspheroid! Flipping use your big 6'7" doofus frame and bury the ball under your body!!! Damn it Chandler!!! Fall on the Ball!!! You can throw this one in for fun too: http://www.nfl.com/g...ap3000000425161 11/9/14 Chiefs vs Bills: 4th QTR: 4-2-KC 16(9:57) 2-D.Colquitt punts 53 yards to BUF 31, Center-43-T.Gafford. 21-L.McKelvin to BUF 30 for -1 yards (42-A.Sherman). FUMBLES (42-A.Sherman), RECOVERED by KC-42-A.Sherman at BUF 26. KC-88-J.Hemingway was injured during the play. His return is Probable. McKelvin, every time you touch the ball, I assume you're going to fumble. I don't blame you for this fumble. I blame the freaking genius that lets you field punts. KD in CA Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 The pick-6 by Watt was a big one. Without that they're probably 3-1; of course then they don't switch to Orton the next week. I wonder how things would have gone from there.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Still not sure they would have won the game either way as from what I recall they were doing nothing offensively. That may have been one of EJ's better passes in the game, just to the wrong team. The pick-6 by Watt was a big one. TallskiWallski83 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) You could also go to the reverse with Chandlers miracle 4th down catch against Minnesota and Chris Hogans catch at the 1 yard line. We SHOULD have lost that game but we didnt. Also we got lucky with a drop by Brandon Marshall week 1 vs the Bears. Or Jordy Nelsons drop of a sure thing 93 yard TD.. Its a game of inches. One play can change anything so these what if scenarios are pointless. What happened happened. Edited December 30, 2014 by TallskiWallski83
K D Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 we were in the same situation in 2004...a few plays away from the playoffs and then what followed was 10 more seasons of mediocrity. wake me up when this is over

I wonder how things would have gone from there. Yeah the way EJ was playing was so terrible. He needed a boot in the ass. Yes Orton was bad but EJ was amazing it wasn't even Captain Checkdown. It was proactively seeking the -1 yard from the LOS pass with no pressure. I hope he spends his off season with Brett Favre or whoever Philip RIvers practices with. Rivers after the 9ers come back said to paraphrase "Well at that point in time you just need to pick one (a receiver) and let it rip." EJ needs to pick a receiver (downfield) and let it rip (at jersey numbers level.) If we get a QB for 2015 the schedule looks kinda soft on paper.

The exercise here is if Bryce Brown doesn't fumble an awful fumble (or if Chandler just falls on the GD ball!), or Cam Newton throw it 5 feet over a 6'5" receiver that is triple covered into two safeties playing deep. Two plays that shouldn't have happened at all, the Bills are in the Playoffs. Edited December 30, 2014 by Why So Serious?
Nanker Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 They were close this year. Really, really close. But so many want to blow the damn thing up completely.
hondo in seattle Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 "The Bills were two plays away from the Playoffs" It may be true but it's the loser's lament... I pray for the day when we can reflect upon the plays that got us to the playoffs.

vorpma Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Do you all honestly believe the Bills are a playoff caliber team?
Maddog69 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 They were also a couple plays away from being 7-9 or worse.
1B4IDie Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) Do you all honestly believe the Bills are a playoff caliber team? If the two plays go in the Bills favor than they are a playoff team. When it comes to QB, the Bills appear to have a vacancy, which kinda cripples the idea that they would be a "Playoff Caliber" team. Is Carolina a "Playoff Caliber" team? buffaloboyinATL Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Do you all honestly believe the Bills are a playoff caliber team? I do. The Defense was legit, and with that, once you get in the playoffs, you never know...

Rivers, when they are down 2 scores in the last few minutes, always lets it rip. Dinking & dunking might get you down field for a score but not 2 scores. There aren't many QBs that will throw to covered receivers even if it is the only chance at winning.

We should have lost both the lions and vikes games. Orton basically saved the day.
Chandler#81 Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Bears driving in OT, before McKelvin & Carpenter save the day. Detroit, Minnesota and Jordy's drop. Brady-less 2nd half. We 're lucky to be 9-7 vs. 4-12, never mind playoff bound. But all that is past. There's more questions than answers. heading into next season.

Who is the QB? It is kind of a big deal but the other questions are pretty minor. You can find a speed rusher to replace Hughes - not that worried with the rest of the D-Line intact. A TE is overdue but not a big deal. Spiller isn't a loss. We can find someone else than can dance in a hole and fumble the ball. If Hacket leaves and the Burgard Football OC were hired it would be an upgrade. If anything there are the least amount of questions from any year this millenium going from 2014 to 2015 It just happens to be a huge question. Who is your starting QB?
