Billsfan1972 Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 So Woods ranked 63rd in the league (Watkins 24), which is pretty pathetic. He had 104 targets or 1.5/game less then Watkins. In any case it is rather sad how bad it was. BTW I imagine Beckham was doubled too (and extra attention), but the effort was made to get him the ball.....

dave mcbride Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Because it was thoroughly refuted. They lost a lot of close games, primarily because defense gave up late leads. And btw they won 6 not 5 games. It was refuted? Look at the larger context I commented on on page one of this thread. Beckham is an elite receiver. So is Watkins. Watkins played in a significantly worse QB situation in a worse offense. The Bills faced far tougher defenses. (Also, not that you said this, but this was not Manning's best season. It was his third best, statistically speaking.)
Doug Flutie Band Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Beckham is better than Watkins, that is a plain fact to anyone with eyes. That is OK. Sammy seems fine. We gave up a little too much for him but he's not a bust. Just because some other guy in the draft might be better it doesn't mean our guy sucks, and just because we drafted a guy it shouldn't mean as fans we can't admit that someone else is better. If you want to compare rookie receivers, compare Sammy to Benjamin, Evans, or Cooks.
jimmy10 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I'm wondering why no one has brought up the "garbage time" argument like we do to discount our own players. You answered your own question. Nattering Nabobs of Negativity by definition won't pump up our own players.
GrizzlyAdams Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Beckham'a a lot better that's why. He has leaping ability and body control that give him the "open when covered" quality Sammy doesn't have. He's also a much better route runner. Real educated opinion.... Sammy has all of those things. Beckman may have a little MORE of each of those qualities but who is his QB? Eli Manning and his two rings!!! Put ODB on the Bills and he is having the same year Watkins had.

You mean he wouldn't have caught those passes 10' over his head, behind him, thrown away and OB? And of course Orton would have looked at him 12.88X's/gm......
