Niagara Dude Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 The thing that worries me about keeping this guy around is he willing to change and understand this is no longer a run & stop the run league. If he is not willing to bring in a more modern play calling OC then he should be shown the door.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Why does the game keep changing but the same coaches and teams in the playoffs.
Kelly the Dog Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Why does the game keep changing but the same coaches and teams in the playoffs. Because smart coaches grow and adapt? I know it's kind of a wild concept, but...
BillnutinHouston Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Marrone is all about the current score on the board, and field position. He has no feel for the flow of the game and no "courage" to put his team in a position to win. He does not show any propensity to change and if that continues, will be forever a .500 coach at best. Bottom line, he does nothing to help his team win a game.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Because smart coaches grow and adapt? I know it's kind of a wild concept, but... Adapt to what? What is different about the NFL today? The biggest difference is the Fb has been replaced with slot WRs. The Bills don't use a Fb. Its all about QB and defense.

Tell that to the teams that win Superbowls.
Malazan Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 I don't need to see him get rid of Hackett. I need to see a new O line coach in here. The line took a huge step backwards.

Or did the talent just suck? Did you expect improvement from soiled vets like Urbik and Pears and Williams??? The problem is no talent at the guard position. The center and tackles get forced trying to do too much and if they've regressed, which many suggest, how much is because of the failure of the rest of the line?
TraumaGuy860 Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 So who did EVERYTHING to win 9 games this year? Just curious since the head coach, you know, determine just about everything. Just wondering. Jim Schwartz and the Defense
Kelly the Dog Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Adapt to what? What is different about the NFL today? The biggest difference is the Fb has been replaced with slot WRs. The Bills don't use a Fb. Its all about QB and defense. It's not as much about the game changing as much as it is about adapting your team. The Patriots have changed their offense about four separate times since Brady has started. The Seahawks evolved their offense and completely evolved their defense. The Packers evolved their offense to include Lacy. The 49ers were winning with Alex Smith and scrapped that whole idea to go the Kaep route. It's not all about the QB and defense, it's about the QB and how you use the QB and who you surround the QB with, and the defense and how you call the defense and who you surround the defense with. The Bills defense of the last three years is the perfect example, between the three strategies of Wanndestat, Pettine and Schwartz.
Malazan Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Jim Schwartz and the Defense The head coach gets blamed if they suck, he also gets credit when they win. Gailey got fired because of his DC hires.
TraumaGuy860 Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 The head coach gets blamed if they suck, he also gets credit when they win. Gailey got fired because of his DC hires. This team is 6-10 or worse with out this defense period.

Kelly the Dog Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 you need talent. That's how you adapt. The point is, no one wins with talent and poor or even average coaching. You need both. Teams get to Super Bowls only when a talented team has its coach pull all the right strings for the most part, they have a lot of talent, a few players have career years, and they have a good chunk of luck (which sometimes seems to come from having the above three). You can have talented players and if coaches don't put them in positions to succeed, they are not nearly as good.
Niagara Dude Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) If you are not adjusting to the lack of success and looking at how the other teams are getting it done this is a problem moving forward. You drafted a WR costing you how many picks?is anyone happy how Sammy was used this season? BillnutinHouston Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Thanks Trauma Guy. Correct. Is it remarkable for a top 3 defense to win 9 games? Uh, no.
