YoloinOhio Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Hopefully Stefan Charles comes to play and Ron Brooks can be effective. I know it doesn't "mean" anything but I still want to win or at least be a good game. @mikerodak: Marcell Dareus and Stephon Gilmore are doubtful.

I think the Pats play Brady for the first few series and then Garapolo takes over. I think with Marrone making the huge, puffed out chest deal about "playing to win" this game, it will make it even more embarrassing for the franchise if they lose to Brady/Garapolo with Orton playing the whole game. Pats make it a glorified preseason game vs the Bills who are taking it seriously...and the Pats still win. Oh baby, will this board will explode.

I think one of the reasons the 'board explodes' is because people look at simple comments about wanting to win a football game as him having a "puffed out chest". We all have thoughts about the coaching staff, and that's part of beign a fan, but how do you read something as bening as a guy wanting to win a football game as puffing out his chest? I'd think you'd want the guy to want to win. I can't ever recall hearing a coach say "We're shooting to lose by 10 or less.". I also don't see the potential for any more, or less embarrassment. Its seems that we've beaten them once since the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor...how much more embarrassing can it be? They beat us by 50? 75? 100? I agree though--Pats win, proably in a big way, and likely snuff out any potential enjoyment that might be left after this season of dismal offense. I'm greatful to be otherwise occupied during the game so I can be spared some of the pain.

I am pretty sure every head coach says they are playing to win every game. Why that is negative and embarrassing to you, I don't know.

As if Orton was an obvious choice even though he has played horrible. It's clear that Marrone did not want to give Manuel the chance to prove his decision of sticking with Orton (a few weeks ago) was a stupid one that may have cost them the playoffs. If I were Marrone I'd have told the media that there is no longer any significant difference in which QB they play in regards to who gives them the best chance to win. So the decision was to go with the younger QB and I'd have sent Manuel out there and have him thrown the ball to Watkins a LOT during the game. I'd tell the team that we're here to beat New England by scoring touchdowns and that we'll sink or swim with an attack that is trying to get the ball downfield and scoring touchdowns. I want to see Manuel/Watkins vs Revis Island. If they burn Revis then the Pats suddenly look toothless and shaky going into the playoffs. If Revis burns them then they can blame it on youth and at least they went down swinging.

He knows which one gives them a "better" chance at this point to win the game, and that is his job. There is not much evaluation that can be done in this one game on EJ - plus you would be completely switching things up after 11 games for the WRs, OL, etc. that has taken 1st teams snaps with Orton for the last 3 months. The chemistry would be way off, etc. Marrone has a responsibility to win the game and hopefully get this team to a winning record, period. Let EJ start fresh next year. mead107 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Orton sucks and the pats will eat him for lunch
John from Riverside Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Instead of playing brooks i would like to see us play that corner we drafted....... We need to see what we have there

Nanker Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Orton sucks and the pats will eat him for lunch If that happens, we can finally say the Pats* have terrible taste in Quarterbacks.

Something like Manuel running for 90 yards and throwing for 3 touchdowns? If they would blow up the conservative offense and just let them play backyard football I think that you could see Manuel having that type of game and Marrone would have some serious egg on his face for sticking with Orton and the conservative approach. Far too many people seem afraid of watching Manuel succeed or fail with a real down the field attacking approach. On offense, I would try to cut the head of the snake off against their defense which is Revis. Why is having Manuel attack Revis throwing to Watkins down the field so scary? Let's lose or win big. Let's show some balls. All we get is this blah blah blah bs from our timid as all head coach who is only pretending he's a tough guy. Wanna be a tough guy? Fearless? Challenge Revis with Manuel and Watkins. Edited December 26, 2014 by 1billsfan
Fixxxer Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I want to see the rookie CB getting some reps. I hate that Dareus won't be ready for this one, I hate seeing the patriots run on us.
Solomon Grundy Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Damn, I wanted to see the Bills starting defense play against Brady

Challenge Revis with Manuel and Watkins. it is far less likely EJ would have a great game than a poor to mediocre game based on what we've seen in his 4 reg season and 5 preseason games. Even if he did look great, it wouldn't prove anything since the game didn't mean anything to NE. Tough to evaluate in those conditions. The coaches see him in practice every day and think Orton is still better. They aren't going to throw him out there with this terrible OL just to satisfy the curiosity of the fans and media. We might have the worst group of offensive coaches in the NFL. They would look terrible if Manuel played and played well. Orton has been a joke for 2 months but they are too stubborn to admit they were wrong. In their only head to head opponent, Miami, EJ won and Orton couldn't score a td. The best game the a bills have played against the Pats under Marrone was with EJ, who left th field with a lead. But let's keep pretending this BS about Irton being the best chance to win. It's a joke. But good for Orton stealing $5 million while ducking to avoid actually getting hit. What a waste.

I don't think anybody seriously thinks either of these guys has been anything other than mediocre this year. Let's just hit the re-set button in the offseason and hope a new OC can bring out the best in our QBs next year.
