Of all the things one could choose to be (that would also be in that room) a mouse seems like a strange choice. But it got me thinking, if the OP were a mouse in that room, then came back and shared what he heard there, would that make him a rat?

Kelly who? JIM Kelly? To take a job that has huge marketing responsibilities? Or would you give him more power (probably more than Brandon has now)? You do understand that Jim Kelly has ZERO managerial or coaching experience in the NFL. I love and respect the guy as our former QB. And I feel badly for his health issues. But had JK had ANY interest in being in management of an NFL team, he should have been doing the work one needs to do that position well. Has he taken one assistant position? Has he shown a great deal of savvy in running businesses of any substantial size? He has done a nice job with his non-profit work for Hunter's Hope, but that hardly qualifies him for a top NFL exec position.

That's not a dream, it's delirium.

I feel this way about Obama running the US government. The guy is a community organizer who has no managerial experience, and is now the commander in chief. If Barack can do it, Kelly can too!

Actually a community organizer might be more like what a President needs to do than running a business. When you run a business YOU get to make the decisions. The President only gets to set the agenda and negotiate for cooperation---something a bit like a community organizer. Thinking a successful businessman is fit for President is probably a mistake, IMO. The jobs are VERY different. The country is NOT a business and the President is NOT a CEO.

But with that said, I have no idea why you would interject your political agenda into a football conversation when they have very little to do with each other. I guess some people just can't help themselves.

How would you suggest scheming around an OL that can't open running lanes and can't pass block? I think that they've tried getting the ball out of Orton's hands quickly, but folks complain that they "never go deep". Unfortunately, the OL hasn't held up in pass protection long enough to go deep. I think that they've tried screens, but OL blocking for the WR/RB on those has been poor. They've tried running the ball inside and wide, both without a lot of effectiveness.

The poor pass protection means that opposing DBs can play tight to the line not needing to fear getting beat deep. This also further clogs running lanes for a team that can't create holes to begin with.

Offensive scheming requires at least *some* kind of strength to play to.

I really think that they knew that they needed OL help last offseason. Unfortunately, either Kuandjo and Richardson are not yet ready or they misfired on those picks. I give them credit that they knew what needed help, but the reinforcements didn't work out. After watching Cyril Richardson be abused during Senior Bowl practices, it isn't surprising that he wasn't a help this year. Kuandjo was a bigger let down. I know that I thought that he would help when they drafted him, but the preseason showed that he couldn't play at the NFL level - at least not yet.

Just wrong. There is plenty you can do to cover for a weak line. You can run bubble screens, you can throw quick crossing routes, you can chip with TE's and HBs on passing plays. You want to see how NOT to draw up a passing scheme? Watch how your boy Hackett left Henderson alone out on an island with Tuck ALL day in Oakland and made no adjustments to help his rookie RT while he was getting taken to the woodshed. How can you not draw up a blocking scheme all season that allows us to run the ball efficiently. I'm serious, watch the playacting and see how most of our running plays are the exact same play. The offense is TERRIBLE: we can't run and we can't pass. OC NEEDS to go.

We drafted 3 O-linemen and 2 of them absolutely suck. That's poor talent scouting there.

Isn't it a bit early to conclude these rookies suck? They are rookies, after all. Kujo certainly didn't perform to expectations. OTOH, I'd say Richardson performed about the way you would expect a 5th round rookie to perform on an otherwise weak offensive line. Dunno if he will pan out, but I'm not one to write off guys in their first year. Perhaps you are.

Richardson played poorly. He is not good but he is a rookie. You should expect your picks in rounds 1-3 to start or factor heavily in a rotation. The fact the we spent a 2nd rd pick on a guy who is consistently a healthy scratch and can't even get on the active roster as a backup means he's awful. We have the worst starting Guards in the league, you mean to tell me our second rounder can't outperform these scrubs in practice? Cause if he can't, then yes he sucks.

I think saying ANY rookie sucks, based on his rookie year, is a premature judgment. Plenty of rookies haven't panned out right away, but later turned out to be OK, I admit, Kujo has been a giant disappointment, though. But you said two out of the three rookie OLs sucked. And so far Richardson hasn't looked great, but he was a 5th rounder. Just saying keep it in perspective.

Time will tell on the young guys. I'm not ready to write anyone off. Too soon to tell in my book as I remain hopeful that they can pick it up and comre around. I'm not saying they make it, but they have tools and backgrounds that made them look like decent picks at the time. Hoping for the best, and some reinforcements.

Jerry Hughes was once another team's under-achieving draft pick.

the great question is who are the good young offensive lineman in the NFL....Fisher is going to switch sides for KC their hoping he can hack it over there because he can't handle good pass rushers, very weak, Joeckel can't even get on the field for Jax and those are the #1 and #2 picks. Linemen take time and need to play with other good linemen

Yes fair. But asking for perspective on a message board may be wishful thinking!
