GG Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 The original one is now locked, so can't restart it. So, let's resume the discussion and think of it from Pegula's and his consultant's view. The questions are simple. Did this team improve from last year, and if it did, in which areas and who was responsible for the improvement? That will determine who stays & goes in January.
KOKBILLS Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 No question the D improved...but I don't think Marrone was too responsible for it... The Offense is Marrone and that kid's baby...And it was just putrid at times despite the fact that Sammy is a stud and they seemingly have some talent on that side... The Bills lost some games they should have won (KC, Houston, Oakland) and they won a couple they should have lost (Minnesota and Detroit)...So in the end that's basically a wash... They were better this year because their Defense is loaded with talent and they really improved on that side, especially vs the run...I give Whaley and Schwartz the the bulk of the credit for the +2 win outcome this year...Marrone would have found his way to 10 + losses without that Defense...That much I'm pretty sure about...
Fadingpain Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 It seems obvious to me that we have a great defense run by a very competent defensive coordinator. No one argues over this, in the same way no one really looks at Sammy Watkins and says "I don't know, he seems like a marginal talent to me." Marrone? Whaley? Hackett? All of our QBs? That is all replaceable and should be replaced.
John from Riverside Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014 The thing is just how much credit should we give to various segments of the team? Defense......deserves the boatload of the credit....Marrone deserves credit for hiring Schwartz Special Teams...improved from last year...Marrone deserves credit for sticking with the same ST coordinator (but the majority should go to Whaley for making sure the ST has loads of talent) Offense... ......... ......... Im thinking............. ok they deserve the most MINIMAL amount of credit available. - Marrone is a OL (guru)....the OL is flat out horrible......players that have been good like Glenn and Wood have regressed......overall the OL is horrible - The offense dispite being give a fantastic player like Watkins are flat out terrible....they are the Dr. Jeckyll of the Mr. Hyde of the defense So evaluating Marrone? I want to see what he does next....because a good HC evaluates without emotion and makes the needed chances to make the team successfull.

Still one more week to make a final impression, for better or worse. Too bad it's against the Pats at Gillette.
