8-8 Forever? Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 right? better if EJ was a good QB delivering them, but sounds good , no?
jaybee Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Sure does, but I'm greedy. 10 sounds better !!!
Dorkington Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Anything less than the playoffs is a failure, and more of the same, for me.
fansince88 Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 I disagree Dorkington. right now our record puts us in the top of the 14 teams and pick at #18 today. How long has it been since we could say that? A winning season is a huge step in the right direction. I do agree that I really wanted to see the playoffs and 1 win is what may stand between Bills and Playoffs. We are not a last place team any more.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 right? better if EJ was a good QB delivering them, but sounds good , no? another baseless EJ bash, Orton IS NO BETTER first winning season in a decade is a win.

When you miss the only important part of the season, getting a bunch of wins is kinda pointless.... I'm tired of "feel good/moral victories".
PromoTheRobot Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 When you miss the only important part of the season, getting a bunch of wins is kinda pointless.... I'm tired of "feel good/moral victories". So better to be 5-11 and win the NFC South than finish 10-6 out of the playoffs?
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Anything less than the playoffs is a failure, and more of the same, for me. Bag of douche.
Dorkington Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 So better to be 5-11 and win the NFC South than finish 10-6 out of the playoffs? Sadly, yes. NFC South team has a chance to win the Super Bowl, while we (if we miss the playoffs), sit at home watching.
PromoTheRobot Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Sadly, yes. NFC South team has a chance to win the Super Bowl, while we (if we miss the playoffs), sit at home watching. Well that's your choice...find ways to be miserable. Some people can't do anything else. You scoff at moral victories but you look for moral failures.
Agent 91 Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) Anything less than the playoffs is a failure, and more of the same, for me. I agree. I would be happy with the way the team played going into the end of the year. But at the same time I feel like the FO and COACHES failed the 2 two units that came to play weekly. They keep this defense together and get an offensive identity and we can try it again next year. This team was held back and was never able to reach their potential. 8-8 Forever? Posted December 21, 2014 Author Posted December 21, 2014 (edited) another baseless EJ bash, Orton IS NO BETTER first winning season in a decade is a win. no no no, sorry did not mean it that way... hate me for it, but I think EJ with better passing mechanics can be better than Andy Dalton (the median for franchise QBs). Marrone has a philosophy called win games and he was right, Orton gives a better chance of a win, so he went with it. 9-7 would just be completely awesome if EJ was the QB who helped deliver it. That's all I'm saying. then we know who our QB is next year. As it is now, no one knows. They will try to get more better QB bodies in there i am sure. Whaley/Marrone it is clear are running a program here, they are constantly recruiting better players to take someone else's place. Look at Gray, Thigpen, Rambo and others who may be better than the guy they replaced. Its an ongoing process with hopefully more and more wins dropping out of the machine. I think they have the process down now. Let the machine continue IMO. They play the NFC East and AFC South so maybe a bit more opportunity against weaker defenses than they saw this year. We shall see. I agree. I would be happy with the way the team played going into the end of the year. But at the same time I feel like the FO and COACHES failed the 2 two units that came to play weekly. They keep this defense together and get an offensive identity and we can try it again next year. This team was held back and was never able to reach their potential. nah, I think 9-7 pretty much defines this team pretty well at this stage of development. the D is young and mainly signed for next year. the QB position will be better b/c it could not be worse. so let it ride. no one expected playoffs ... the D did not come together until the 2nd half of the year.. I see bright skies ahead. Edited December 21, 2014 by 8and8Forever
outsidethebox Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Going into this season I hardly expected a winning season. Much less still be in the playoff hunt late December. Call it a moral victory but I will take it! I feel we are on the right track. Keep Marone. Keep Schwartz. Find a decent Qb. Then playoffs are a better possibility next year, Who can be upset with that?
John from Riverside Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Anything less than the playoffs is a failure, and more of the same, for me. If you cannot see the impact of a 10 win season for this team.....then I wont be able to sway you other otherwise..... When was the last time the bills had a winning season? Much less 10 wins?
Dorkington Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 Well that's your choice...find ways to be miserable. Some people can't do anything else. You scoff at moral victories but you look for moral failures. Not miserable, just have a different outlook. The goal is Super Bowl for every team at the beginning of the year. You can't win the Super Bowl by missing the playoffs. We're going in the right direction, but it's still a failed season if we miss the playoffs.

But you have to be realistic. 9/10 wins is a big improvement. It would be enough to make the playoffs in most years. The fact the schitty NFC is skewing the AFC doesn't take away from the Bills accomplishments. Sorry you can't enjoy it.

Well, I was entertained, and happy after more than half the games ( fingers cross3d), and i have hope for the remainder of this season, as well as next season....
ProcessAccepted Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 another baseless EJ bash, Orton IS NO BETTER first winning season in a decade is a win. Neither has proven that they are the solution. Unless EJ progresses this off season then this type of chatter will unfortunately continue. My hope is that we won't be pulling someone off the couch as our safety net next year like we had to do this year.

rumblefish Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 anything less than playoff, is a disappointment, but this finishing at worst 8 and 8 is a victory, some folks don't remember the progression the Bills went through to get to the Super Bowl the first time around,
