26CornerBlitz Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 not sure if you saw how the browns D played against the #1 offenses last week (colts) but it is playing at a pretty high level. Luck was reeling. I saw that they had a good game against Luck with two defensive touchdowns, but they are still inconsistent. When the Bills played them, Hackett inexplicably refused to take advantage of their vulnerable run defense before trying to establish the passing attack. His approach deserves to be called into question.

rfk Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Over 16 games the Bills will play a top 13 defense 12 times. #2 - Detroit #4 - Denver #6 - Miami (2x) #7 - NY Jets (2x) #8 - Kansas City #9 - San Diego #11-Minnesota #12-New England (2x) #13-Oakland The only "weak" defenses we will see are.. #18-Cleveland #24-Houston (odd considering they have Watt & Clowney) #25-Green Bay #28-Chicago So this is one possible reason (excuse?) for our rough offensive output. Your point..to be and win in the playoffs the big boys put on their big boy panties

Every offense in the NFL plays good defenses. The quality offenses find ways to move the ball and put up points. No QB and a porous line is the problem. We have a top quality D and Denver found a way to put up points on us and knew we couldnt do the same against them.
Mr. WEO Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 The Bills Defense has only faced 2 of the top 10 offenses.....
dollars 2 donuts Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 The Bills Defense has only faced 2 of the top 10 offenses..... That's a little sobering.

How dare their offense struggle against said defenses and only be 7-6 with shown improvement from years past. They obviously didn't get the message that fans demand they be 13-0 at this point or all is a failure.
Captain Hindsight Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Orton hasn't looked the greatest and his dive slide was appalling, however how much better will the offense be if Orton has another year to get his timing down with the recievers. He had a lot passes last week that just missed with the WRs that if were on target would have been big gains. id be willing to bet he still sucks next year
PromoTheRobot Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 Just an FYI those ranks came from the ESPN NFL stat page ranking defenses by total yards allowed as of this week. Interesting viewpoint from WEO about the offensive ranks faced by the Bills D.

PromoTheRobot Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 We have a fresh set of excuses every year. No one here said the Bills O was good but for the schedule. But they have had a tough schedule.

I'm convinced that an above average offensive line would have us in a good playoff position right now. RB and QB would be much more effective.

NoSaint Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 He's saying that part of the reason the Bills haven't looked so hot on offense is because they've played some pretty good defenses. Where's the confusion? It's a valid point. I think you missed his point that others drew the same gauntlet and had more success
