After a season mired by both injury and controversy, the Buffalo Bills will be moving on from wide receiver Mike Williams after all.

According to John Wawrow of The Associated Press, the Bills plan to release Williams as soon as the wide receiver recovers from a calf injury he sustained at practice last week. He was placed on the waived/injured list on Monday, cleared waivers on Tuesday and was immediately placed on Injured Reserve.

Upon his release the Bills will not owe Williams any further compensation, as long as the wideout is cut ahead of the third day of the new league year in March. Buffalo initially acquired Williams from Tampa Bay in April for a sixth-round pick.

In nine games played with the Bills, the wide receiver had eight receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown.

I just don't get it and have to wonder what it is we don't know. He could play in the league, he proved that. What's behind the curtain?

Marrone vowed revenge for Williams walking out on him Syracuse. He now gets his Vengeance!

Seriously if Mike Williams just stomped Marrone would anyone blame him?

It is so weird.

Part of my hopes that he fleeces Marrone and claims a serious injury that he doesn't recover from until the fourth day of the league year.

But I like Whaley, so please don't do that MW.

Why the new thread? He was waived injured- this is simply how it works, not new info

This thread is the first to delve into the "why" of it all.

people want to "beat a dead horse" which would have been sweet if the Bills would have taken care of business in Denver

If Williams signs anywhere and contributes Marrone will have done 'splainin' to do.

Why?

The only thing I can think of is that we fans somehow think we're entitled to an explanation. This has always been about nothing more than a coach who cut a player that didn't suit him. And if Williams goes on to enjoy future success, I wouldn't expect anything more than "We're glad Mike Williams is healthy and having success again in the league."

End of story no matter how much it may irk the public and the media that feels entitled to have detailed explanations into everything.

as opposed to all the other players in the league who are cut and signed and contribute on new teams? It happens every day. Whaley is the one who cut him, he can explain it to ... Um... Russ? Kim? Who cares.

MW looked slow every play he was on the field this year. I have no idea the fascination with why he wasn't playing. He's lost it due to injury. A common tale many here just can't seem to grasp

Yeah he looked really slow on that TD bomb.

let's not invite a new reality. He was on the field for about 50 plays this season. I don't think anyone has enough tape to call him "slow" plus speed was never his game. He is not any slower than Stevie.
