Sojourner Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 The only number Hughes will be changing, if any, as a Bill will be that of his annual salary.
RCOHEN13 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Oh, we've had several guys switch numbers. Bennett from 97 to 55 comes to mind. Heck, Gilmore did it recently himself. But what Knox did with Jones was in season as I recall and made solely to try to help disguise him a bit from the refs. I wonder if the league even allows that sort of thing anymore. If so, give Hughes a new number. Couldn't hurt. GO BILLS!!! I would think it would fall into the same kinda situation with Chad Johnson/ Ocho Cinco scenario where from a merchandising standpoint would be not allowed by league. I remember Chad had to wait till end of season for them to have his name on jersey be ocho cinco OR he had to personally buy all the "chad johnson" jerseys left on market. A mid season number change would seem like a similar situation but that's just my opinion...
dwight in philly Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I think that's correct! Holy crap, I was WAY off in my memory! Must have been under Chuck Knox then. Wow, great job, dwight. GO BILLS!!! thank you !
Bills Fan since '64 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 The refs probably think he's Jim Haslett, and everyone hates Jim Haslett. He should change from 55 to 97, like Cornelius Bennett did (probably for the same reason)

maddenboy Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I'd say save this Picard Maneuver for next year, during our deep run. I do like it though.
4merper4mer Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Update: Marrone has agreed to this but only if the number is changed to 9746392 which is Hughes' number in the Doug House.

The Real Buffalo Joe Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 When Spiller and McKelvin switched, their jerseys just went on clearance.
thebandit27 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 The Bills have done this in the past. I just can't remember who and when exactly. I wanna say it was early on in the Levy era and was either a DL or DB. GO BILLS!!! Cornelius Bennett
