Every single decision is critiqued to no end. Please show me one coach who is perfect. Just one. That is what I mean.

Does he know where Jerry Hughes is? Does it matter what he says? These things get handled in house but because we as fans don't know what happened people use it to fit their narrative. You would hate to be a Patriots* fan and the non answers given by Belicheck. On top of that Hughes normally plays about 70% of snaps which in this game would have been 38.5 snaps, he played 31. We want to make a huge deal about 7 snaps?

The innovative offense? It's with the NFL caliber qb. What kind of offense do you expect with Kyle Orton running the show. The guy is a career .500 player and has shown exactly that on the Bills.

You think Marrone is good enough and want to make excuses for him. Fine by me. But, he's the one who talked up innovation and being cutting edge. I want and expect better than he has shown. He's a run of the mill coach who supposedly has offensive line expertise and knowledge of how to design a scheme to attack NFL defenses. I have seen no evidence of success in either area in almost two complete seasons. He's not good enough in my book.

They have a QB

That's debatable. If you look at the numbers, I think that you'll find that the Dolphins have not gotten much better production than the Bills have from that position.

Adam Schein "obviously" doesn't watch the Bills very closely.

Schein was a big Jauron guy too. I think he has good relationships with the Bills and it is hard for him to criticize them.

IIRC, Schein is a Syracuse grad. That explains his take on Marrone.

They have a QB

A QB who most fans and media wanted benched after the Bills game. Yet, the Fins let Tannehill play through it and he grew.

Manuel and Tannehill had very similar rookie year stats. And Tannehill had his college coach (and veteran OC) as his NFL OC. Now, he has a guy who worked with Rodgers. Manuel had Syracuse's OC.

The Fins would be stupid to get rid of JP. He is helping improve Tannehill. If we played EJ all year and were 7-6 (not a stretch given how little the offense has "improved" under Orton), I'd be all about Marrone.

but going 8-8 with Kyle Orton should be a death sentence.

Great point. I like him because he is about as nice of a guy on Buffalo as anyone in the national media. But he is completely biased.

Oh it is very clear from EVERY post that you don't like Marrone. I just wish people could be a little more objective about what they are seeing. I think Marrone has done a great job with the cards he has been dealt. The o-line isn't good and neither is the qb. That makes any innovation or even a simple offense difficult to run. As for offensive line expertise I would think it is easy to imagine he doesn't have time to devote solely to the offensive line. He has an entire team to oversee that is why HCs have position coaches.

Again this is the sad sack sorry for 15 years Buffalo Bills. This team is playing tough hard nosed football for the first time in forever. This team is winning more than it is losing for the first time in forever. I don't get how people don't see this. Would you want Pete Carroll as the head coach in Buffalo? He went 7-9 in each of his first 2 years in Seattle (this in his second opportunity), how about Belicheck who went .500 in his first 2 years in NE (in his second stint).

This was a job that had a ton of history and most of it poor. This wasn't a glamor job nor a quick fix job. Do you honestly not see a different team from the Gailey/Jauron time? Those teams were timid and soft. Those teams were lacking talent and toughness. This team is close on the talent part (with a few missing important pieces) and has arrived on the toughness part.

The Bills don't *need* a new coach. They need a new offensive coordinator who can spread the field and utilize his players appropriately. Case in point: CJ Spiller running up the middle. Say what you want about Chan, but he sure knew how to use spiller properly.

if Hackett is our OC in 2015 i'm not even going to watch any of the games in protest.

except maybe the first 10...and then if we are doing good i might watch the other 6

Marrone has his worts, but he's the best we've had in a longggggggggg time

way off thread...but i aint buying the Orton part of that equation. EJ i am not so sure yet, but Orton i think after 10 years you know what he is.And that is not good enough to get you to a Superbowl, or even the playoffs, in a normal year.

Yea it is very clear that Orton isnt sustainable for a playoff run next year, all the shine from the first couple games has worn off and now he plays like a slower EJ. Everything is a dump off and deep balls are innacurate. The priority needs to be to keep this defense together for another year and then do whatever they can at QB. Keep EJ and Orton on the team but they need to draft a rookie and get the best FA. One guy that isnt technically a FA but I think will come available is Cutler. chicago is really getting sick of him and while I know Cutler makes some really dumb decisions, IMO he is an upgrade from Orton. It may not be a huge upgrade but he may be the best that's out there. Hoyer or Sanchez or Bradford I dont think can get it done next year.

Not at all. He has his issues just as any coach does. He just isn't the worst coach ever, a bumbling idiot, or deserving of being fired. Too many people on this board are on this crusade. The guy has gotten 2 years. 2! To turn around the franchise with the longest playoff drought in the entire history.

Instead of being snarky about 1 sentence why don't you actually discuss the points I have raised.

The only upgrade at QB that will be available and I see as being worth the risk is Bradford. He's been fragile, but I've been trying to watch film of his from past seasons, not highlight reels, and I think he actually has "it". The arm and accuracy are there and his eyes are far from slow. If it's a 3rd or 4th that the Rams are seeking, I'd bite.

Bradford isn't worth a 3rd or 4th on his contract. There's a decent chance he's cut, in which case Buffalo should definitely consider signing him.

Cards he has been dealt?? Is this a joke?

With the exception of Wood, he (and his GM) created this O-line--in fact, he screwed it by having Urbik benched for so long, and blowing a 2nd round pick on a bust.

He created the QB situation, by drafting EJ, then bringing a bunch of bad backups last year, then bringing in Orton at the 11th hour.

You have fabricated a whole scenario where Marrone was somehow summoned at a moment's notice, like Winston Wolf, to clean up someone else's mess.

Your argument is completely unconvincing.

Who builds the team the GM or the HC? He drafted the players and brought in the backups and signed Orton? Wow what does Whaley do?

I am with you 26.

What freakin adversity has Marone gone through this year???

Team missed a day of practice, moved a game to Detroit against the worst team in the league. (some suggest was a bonding experience)

That is it......the sum total of his adversity

OTOH

Only one significant injury to an impact starter. One...One... ........ are you kidding me??? What good fortune is that? (maybe you could put Leo in there)

Huge, jacked up beyond normal, emotional crowds for two divisional home games. He loses one.

No Toronto game this year.

One West Coast Game

A defense that keeps his team in every single stinking game ( that he does not coach one iota)

This guy had everything break RIGHT for him this year...the exact opposite of adversity

Totally!!!

Because I see your points as excuse making for Marrone. IMO, he brings nothing special to the organization that warrants him being retained beyond this season. He's a poor in-game decision maker who doesn't know how to put this players in positions to excel. His fascination with a KO specialist is inexplicable. The redzone offense is a disgrace. 13 wins and 16 losses in his Bills' coaching career doesn't wow me. As I asked in another thread, where is the signature win for this coaching staff? Goodbye St. Doug.
