The Big Cat Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Please feel free to go back and compare the roster that Chan had to work with compared to our current day roster. The difference in talent from top to bottom is incredible. Uh...not on defense it's not. Not in the backfield it wasn't. Not a QB, not on the offensive line. We have better receivers now, I'll give you that. But top to bottom--as you contend---is not actually that different from 2012:
GunnerBill Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Yep. The defense in Gailey's last year had some proper talent.... (albeit the LBs sucked) it sadly didn't have proper coaching.
FireChan Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Uh...not on defense it's not. Not in the backfield it wasn't. Not a QB, not on the offensive line. We have better receivers now, I'll give you that. But top to bottom--as you contend---is not actually that different from 2012: Boobie Dixon vs Tashard Choice! Gailey would have Dixon a CPOY candidate!
Kirby Jackson Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) Yep. The defense in Gailey's last year had some proper talent.... (albeit the LBs sucked) it sadly didn't have proper coaching. It was extremely young too. Bradham was a rookie, Dareus was only like 20, Kelvin Sheppard was starting and so was George Wilson. Aaron Williams was a CB. Jerry Hughes, Kiko, Spikes, and Brown weren't on the roster. I would hardly say that the defense in 2012 was just like 2014. In addition the depth isn't even close. Nick the Greek Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I cant believe someone actually misses the Chan/Fitz/Wanny era Good lord
atlbillsfan1975 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) wait till the end of the season when this team finishes 7-9. With the talent Marrone has the Bills should be a playoff team. Sad but due to his inability to coach during the Texas, KC, Miami, and SD game the Bills will be on the outside looking in. Marrone is right there with the rest of the crappy coaches we have had for the past 14 years. The talent is here. Edited December 9, 2014 by atlbillsfan1975
Rico Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 1. Wade 2. Marrone t5.. Gailey t5. GW t5. Jauron 6. Meathead

But top to bottom--as you contend---is not actually that different from 2012: Uh...you were the one who referenced starting 0-8 and losing our final 7 games after starting 5-2 or whatever. Neither of those things happened in 2012. The fact remains that Chan inhereted a terrible roster and an overhaul was done over the years leading up to his departure. Marrone in turn, inhereted a very deep and talented roster. Is that not true or are we going to rewrite history to help Marrone's cause? Edited December 9, 2014 by Bangarang

I didn't say it was the same. I said there was real talent on the D. Yes it was young, but it was horrificially bad for the talent level. Partly on his dreadful choice of coordinator I accept but ultimately that falls on him.
Rivermont Mike Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Why are you doing this? I refuse to play ^^^This. How in the *@#$ do you "power rank" 14 years of futility? Come on.
birdog1960 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 wade is the only half decent head coach there. he's the only one any other nfl team considered an hc candidate after his stint here. this thread distills why the bills have sucked for so long. it's time to start fresh. remove all the ghosts.

Beerball Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 i don't wish to participate in this exercise
Dorkington Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 No way can I rank these guys, they are all basically the same... flawed coaches, with flawed staffs, and inconsistent roster talent. Uh...not on defense it's not. Not in the backfield it wasn't. Not a QB, not on the offensive line. We have better receivers now, I'll give you that. But top to bottom--as you contend---is not actually that different from 2012: Better LB now, worse OL now, better WR now, that's about it, right?
Maury Ballstein Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Marrone is #1. 7-5 heading into December for the first time in 10 years. #dealwithit #SaintDoug #playoffs Minus the whole playoffs thing. #marronelookslikeanaunt #washedupqb #wheresmypunter #puntpuntpunt
mannc Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) After reading Marrone's shifting and unconvincing explanations for the Hughes benching, along with his typically inarticulate post-game blather, I have to say the ex-Bills coach he most reminds me of is Hank Bullough. He comes off as a bumbling ex-jock who has been promoted above his true ceiling, which is probably a quality control specialist or offensive line coach. Sorry if that sounds harsh. It will be interesting to see what happens these last three games. Marrone is #1. 7-5 heading into December for the first time in 10 years. #dealwithit #SaintDoug #playoffs And Mularkey had his Bills at 9-6, heading into the last game of the season, against a team with nothing to play for . . . Was he a good coach? Edited December 9, 2014 by mannc
