BillnutinHouston Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Love Fred, almost bought his jersey a few times, but he's getting caught from behind, a lot.
billsfan_34 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Agree with the OP...Fred has slowed considerably and it is easy to see. I think for the majority of fans it is hard to come to terms with that. FJ has been a true warrior but it is time to hang up the cleats or be purely situational next year.
Buffaloed in Pa Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Time for Bryce ,Boobie and E.J. ,the rest of the year. See what we got. See if E.J. has learned anything. Thanks for the memories Freddy.
ProcessAccepted Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I agree, Freddy's not done yet. He still has one more good year left in him. They are a different team when Freddy plays. No question about it but we are lucky to still have him. I can only imagine what his stats would have been with a different team.
K8prisoner Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Fred is the heart and soul and can pick up a blitz like no one else.. but , you are right . He needs to play on third down and in the end of halfs to limit his snap count and keep him fresh . I don't know if this sacrifices his connection to the rhythm of the game..I would rather have this problem than not have him leading prep during the week.. A smaller john riggins ..
Section242 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Bryce Brown trade was terrible. Don't think he's anything more than a 3rd string RB at best.
Mr. WEO Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Freddys legs are dead? Someone needs to start a thread about this....
Buffaloed in Pa Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Bryce looked pretty good to me.Leaping over players and fast. He needs more carries.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 if this is your gripe after todays game then you either don't know football or didn't watch the game the right way. Amazing how people can watch a game like that and this is the take away.
klos63 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Amazing how people can watch a game like that and this is the take away. This was a 'take away' by a few people I spoke with early in the game. It's no sin to say this, it happens at 33, usually before. He can still contribute, but don't expect him to get faster with age.
Niagara Dude Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I have mentioned this before that is you are going to have a average QB you need big plays from running back position. It is worth trying to run the ball 30-35 times if a few of those runs are 20plus yards. This is not going to happen with Jackson
Tampa Bob Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I disagree. He is the heart and soul of this team and a straight beast. There are no signs of him slowing down. He has always been unbelievably slow. The reason why Fred is so special is because the magic that he performs on the field has been done despite his incredible slowness. This is the reason why he will play until he is 40. He doesn't have any speed to lose.
BUNCH OF MULARKEY Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Of all the things to complain about today Fred isn't one of them. The guy plays hurt and is still better than butterfingers Bryce brown or a pair of boobies
klos63 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Of all the things to complain about today Fred isn't one of them. The guy plays hurt and is still better than butterfingers Bryce brown or a pair of boobies Not necessarily complaining about Fred, but lack of big play potential from the RB position hurts us.
Rocky Landing Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Fred's value to this team is profound. Yeah, he's getting old. I wonder if this is his last season. But, the plays he makes, the safety valve he provides for every QB he has played for, his leadership, his heart-- these things are going to be hard to replace.
Webster Guy Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 fred has always looked slow but he's not. he's shifty and has great elusiveness for a big back. one more year for 22 because he'll train properly this offseason and show up for camp in top shape and win a roster spot like he always has.
SlamnSam Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Only problem with brown is he will promptly fumble the ball.
HalftimeAdjustment Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Fred is slower than he used to be, but the reality is, he got several 4-10 yard runs regardless. Several of the plays where he was caught, he had very little chance. There's no guarantee a faster player catches those passes either. I think he would do better if used more effectively. Oddly, there were a couple of runs/receptions today where I thought he would have made more yardage if he went towards the inside. I wonder if the coaches are (incorrectly) setting him up to go outside, which is a mistake to do too often as opposing players are faster.
TDRupp Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Correct. he is slower is probably banged up some but "Dead Legs"? Yes. One o I best move is doing dead legs, catching the defender off balance and driving through him for3 +yards. That is his move!
