Bubba Gump Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) Is he really going to waste a roster spot this week in Mile High by utilizing Jordan Gay? I mean Kyle Orton could kick the ball through the endzone in that air. I only heard some of the inactives and I know MW was one, but then someone thought he got banged up in practice? And even if Carp is nursing a groin, I'm sure Schmidt could handle the KO duties. I just don't get how Marrone's brain works sometimes....actually a lot of times. And like I said, I only heard bits and pieces of the injury report/inactives, so I may be way off with my thinking as well. Edited December 6, 2014 by Not Again
26CornerBlitz Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Looks like the Broncos are going to waste a roster spot too: Broncos sign McManus to roster, waive Burse The Broncos added kicker Brandon McManus to the active roster and waived wide receiver Isaiah Burse on Saturday.
Bubba Gump Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) Looks like the Broncos are going to waste a roster spot too: Broncos sign McManus to roster, waive Burse Denver certainly has had their issues at kicker this year. Life after Elam not so smooth. And I think Denver can afford to waste a spot a lot more than red zone blues Buffalo. Edited December 6, 2014 by Not Again
Bubba Gump Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 Do you have something against Gay people? Not at all, I love happy people. I just have a problem with goofball coaches. Although if Marrone can somehow pull a win out of his arse tomorrow, I'll take back everything I said about him.
C.Biscuit97 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Kickoff specialist haha. What a joke. Dude gets paid for like 2 plays a game with our offense.
Max997 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) So who should they have active instead and if they were active to you think they would even see the field? Most likely they wouldn't so why is this even an issue? Edited December 6, 2014 by Max997

And I think Denver can afford to waste a spot a lot more than red zone blues Buffalo. They were a little too hasty when they waived Prater. He handled both the PK and KO duties on a high level. No pun intended. Edited December 6, 2014 by 26CornerBlitz

You just mentioned Carpenter has a groin issue and you would rather have the punter, who hasn't kicked off all year, punt instead of the guy that will be a touchback machine? My question is what player will have a greater impact on the game that you would like to start? This decision off a kick off specialist has actually worked out pretty well.
Andrew Son Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I don't think it's only about getting touchbacks, they are also saving carpenters leg and letting him focus on FG's. I wouldn't change a thing
C.Biscuit97 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 So who should they have active instead and if they were active to you think they would even see the field? Most likely they wouldn't so why is this even an issue? An extra offensive or defensive linemen. Would Belichick waste a roster spot on an extra kicker?
26CornerBlitz Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 An extra offensive or defensive linemen. How many of the good teams have a kickoff specialist? Would Belichick waste a roster spot on an extra kicker? It's been the Bills as the lone wolf this season until today. Now DEN too.
C.Biscuit97 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 It's been the Bills as the lone wolf this season until today. Now DEN too. Doug Marrone is just an ahead of his time genius. Is Gay the richest person in the world on the amount he actually works?
Max997 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 (edited) An extra offensive or defensive linemen. Has not dressing an extra offensive or defensive lineman cost them this year? If they did dress an extra lineman would that lineman even see the field? No and no so again why is this even an issue? Edited December 6, 2014 by Max997

Plus, why do you need extra defensive linemen against a no huddle team in Denver? Definitely a kickoff specialist is a better use of a roster spot.

Definitely a kickoff specialist is a better use of a roster spot. Again, has that happened? Better question, are they even dressing less lineman than they would without the kickoff specialist? Coverage units are better than they were last year correct? If that means having a kickoff specialist instead of an extra player who will never see the field so be it. D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Again, has that happened? Better question, are they even dressing less lineman than they would without the kickoff specialist? Don't mind him, he just bitches about everything Bills. He claims to be a Fan. LMAO.

Coverage units are better than they were last year correct? If that means having a kickoff specialist instead of an extra player who will never see the field so be it. Do you realize there's only been 6 kickoff tds? With the new rules (no wedges & kicking off from the 35), the kick return game is severely hampered. Again, I like doing what good teams so. Good teams don't waste a roster spot on a kickoff guy when we have a million dollar kicker. And our red zone offense is one of the worst in the NFL. Mike Williams was known as being a good redzone target. Could dress him. And just because something never happened, doesn't mean it can't. We lost Spiller and Jackson in one game. But why second guess Pinstripe Bowl game champion Marrone.
