I assume she's Filipina with a last name of Santos. Those people are weird with their names. I've seen Sparkle, Twinkle, Choo-Ch0o, Bec-Bec. One named their kids in this order AA, BB, CC, DD. I said hope they don't get to PP.

Not really taking the side of Santa... But if The Fat Dude is afraid, he's afraid.

"...St. Nick was apparently afraid of her service dog, a 5-year-old pit bull..."

How can you order somebody not to be afraid. Huh?

In the article it says they offered to remove the dog. He still refused to see the girl. Sounds like he was being stubborn.

And then he went from being afraid to being allergic.

my question is why does a child with autism need a service dog? you mean i could have had one for my son all these 22+ years instead of trying to teach him on a daily basis how to act in public????

...and yes, I know there are varying degrees of autism

And the parents can't separate the kid and dog for the few minutes she see's Santa? Why do people have to impose there dogs on people constantly? I go to Lowes now and there is always some retard walking his pitbull among a hundred customers or so. Yeah dude we know your the man with the tats and a bad ass pitubull. Unfortunately this crap will only end when some pit freaks out and takes a chunk out of someone in the checkout lines and lawsuits start flying. Edited by Dante

If it's truly a service dog, it will be quiet and well-behaved. I don't have any problem at all with this.

Santa deserved to get fired.

The dogs are just fine--it's the humans I worry about.

I've always thought Ellemenope could be an interesting name.

EDIT: I just googled it and there are actually people with this name. Now I don't like it anymore.

Some people are deathly afraid of dogs.

Should that be a requirement for Santa's no phobias whatsoever?

Even if you grant that this guy was deathly afraid of dogs (which is a stretch), they offered to remove the dog and he still refused to sit with the girl. Are some people deathly afraid of little girls who have recently been near dogs? Is that a thing too?

next up on dr. oz.....of course it could be, get some floundering psychiatrist desperate to make a name for himself and he/she can find people that will admit to be afraid of it, voila, it's an accepted disability....

It's a service animal...

I'm willing to bet that there is more to this story. It is just too perfectly set up as a media slam dunk. I hate to be such a skeptic but I find it hard to believe that someone who works as a mall Santa and deals with kids all day treated this girl so poorly after the dog was removed. There must have been more to the initial confrontation. Probably some back and forth between the parents and the Santa. After all, they did name their kid abcde! I'm doubting they are reasonable and accommodating.

This would be a perfect platform for the family and their friend who just so happens to be a "service dog advocate" to get some major sympathy and support.

I made a simple statement, I wasn't defending the Santa.

If I were, I'd then say maybe he was allergic, of he had his fill of uncontrollable Autistic children.

R E L A X ... before you attempt to trash me .... I have an autistic child and honestly I don't know why she needed a "service animal".

Autistic children are a lot to handle, but you need to try to get them to relate to the world with as few crutches as possible. Why? Because when they are grown up, no ones going to give them handouts.

As chknwing334 just stated, maybe there is more to this story than is being told.
