Not for sure yet. Marrone said nothing for certain and only eluded to "some players" having to be monitored. Not all sickle cell patients get altitude problems.

Good to know.

I think Goodwin is fine to play. They just have to be careful with him.

fingers crossed for his own good - clarks situation was NASTY when he learned the hard way that it would be a problem. i know a lot of people get on goodwins case for health stuff, but this is a week to genuinely keep well wishes for him. if monitored, how risky is it? whats the monitoring/managing process?

This is an article from around training camp when Goodwin had the sickle cell issue, and it alludes to this week's game. Apparently Santonio Holmes and Geno Atkins both have it and played in Denver, and other players have as well.

Seriously can he play or what. They are letting him talk about it and not giving their side. Annoying as all hell.

@mikerodak: Mike Williams sarcastically aims to be the Bills' best scout team player:

Rodak is his BFF

@mikerodak: Mike Williams "I'm still that guy who can score in the RZ any time I want. It's just other people gotta see it. If they don't somebody will"

It's a mystery why he's not playing and I don't get it either but it's not like they owe us some sort of explanation.

Think about this potential scenario: Coaches come out and say Williams still cannot grasp the offense and therefore imply he's not too bright. What would that do to potential trade value?

Sounds like DM is putting a personal issue with him ahead of the good of the team. This is exactly the type of person that we do not need as head coach or any other position.

so wait, who wanted jordan palmer and who wanted orton?

Marrone preferred Orton, as did Whaley, but he wasn't meeting Orton's asking price at the time. In Marrone's eyes, Palmer wasn't even a compromise and never should have been considered.

GO BILLS!!!

Hogan is playing well and can play special teams. Pretty easy to understand why he's playing

Yep. Mike Williams needs to increase his value. Becoming the "best scout team receiver in the league" is a start.

with our red zone problems and inability of WRs and TEs to win physical matchups, I find it hard to argue with the case he makes for himself

You mean those red zone problems where we constantly have multiple receivers running open and a QB that can't put the ball where it's needed to be? If guys weren't getting open, MW would have a better case. He'd just be another guy getting open that Orton can't find.

It's amazing that Mike's potential is never realized everywhere he goes especially when he is so helpful in talking about it. Even more amazing is that people on this board believe him

... According to Buffalo rumblings he got no snaps against KC. I tried looking for other games but found little. ..

Meant to say vs. Miami, week 11. My bad.

Well the alternative means you'd have to believe Marrone knows what he's doing.

I jogged thru a lot of games and didn't see many snaps at all. It was boggling

Ah you're right - next year is when it balloons to $5.2M, which won't be our problem.

That $5.2M is guaranteed. We could cut Mike tomorrow, but we are stuck paying him that money and it's going to count against our cap next year.

i remember differently. I believe Tampa was on the hook for all of that.

@ChrisTrapasso: Eventual contract situation w/ Mike Williams could be dicey, but it's essentially 1-year, $1.8MM deal. Filled need for #Bills for just a 6th

i thought it was guaranteed on a certain date (ie if we kept him past day 5 of the league year)
