Dante Posted December 11, 2014 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I was a huge Montreal fan when a kid. When he retired in 1971 after the last Stanley Cup game I cried my eyes out. I don't think I was really familiar with the concept of retirement then. It was a total shock. I remember my mom explaining it to me that he would never play again and I guess I took it like he was dying. I have a real nice red Montreal #4 jersey. From the Montreal Gazette Beliveau timeline. "May 18, 1971: Plays the final game of his NHL career, a 3-2 Stanley Cup-clinching victory over Chicago in Game 7 of the final series.
