As for Kaepernick, if he becomes available, I would LOVE to see him in a Bills uniform. Get him out of the pocket and let him do his thing. His down year is an aberration directly correlated to the push for him to be a more stationary QB.

As long as he burns his Dolphins hats, I am okay with this scenario.

Don't see how Kaepernick would be available. The cap hit for cutting him must be ridiculous.

This. He did sign at $127 million contract and up front it looks like $61 million is guaranteed. The fact is only $13 million is guaranteed with the other $48 million guaranteed only if he got injured. So, the reality is that his cap hit would be like $11 million for San Francisco assuming he doesn't get hurt. Unless Buffalo assumed the responsibility for the remainder of the guarantee, there's no way San Francisco moves him. I still think too that even $11 million hit is too big to consider. His contract is also ridiculous. Why would Kapernick accept a pay cut to play in Buffalo? Would the Bills really pay him $15+ million per year?

They exercised his 5th year option, he isn't going anywhere

Between his 'donkey kong Suh' comments, his immature jumping around in the pre-season and his subsequently under-whelming season, I am skeptical about him pulling it all together and becoming any team's franchise QB. I can easily see him regressing and fading if he doesnt get his act together. All the tools but does he have the maturity and dedication ?

You are off base with your assertion of the impatient fans. There would have been more patience with EJ if he showed improvement in his game from last year. Yet he regressed. There was no point in throwing him out to the wolves with the rest of his team mates losing confidence.

If he shows up in camp next year and shows improved skills in camp and in preseason, the patience will return.

He played 4 games, and helped win 2. Hardly enough time to make any real judgements. And given that the offense struggles to score even a td these days with a 10 year vet, perhaps it's more a reflection on the system than EJ.

Their oline is a disaster and they have awful rbs. He will have a big bounce back year.

According to Peter King's gut, fwiw.

It's the last mailbag segment. But watch anyway, the first one is about what a great job Marrone has done, and I'm sure many here would agree!

I think Peter King's gut should spend less time speculating and more time eating Doritos.

First let's look at CK's contract per OvertheCap

If I'm reading correctly, SF would have $9 million in DEAD MONEY if they cut him. SF doesn't save a huge amount of money if they cut him. And who is CK's backup? Blaine Gabbert? OK, let's send the Turk after Colin and line Gabbert right up! (Not)

On the other hand, he is currently the 6th highest paid QB while playing at the top of the bottom 3rd (ie about 20-23rd) for completion percentage and QBR (total and old). We don't know what might be in his contract as far as trades, but he was riding pretty high when he signed his extension so there may well be some language that would complicate a trade. I'm sure there are a number of teams that would improve their QB play with CK (at least 10 of them *g*) but it's kinda hard to give up whatever draft picks or players you'd have to give and pay a guy top-6 money when he's turning out a track record in the bottom half of QB in the league.

So I don't see it happening, either by cut or by trade. Sorry Peter King's Gut!

I don't buy this regression claim. He looked to me to be exactly the same as he was throughout his limited 2013 run.

He was much more tentative and timid to throw since the third game this year.

GG is correct. I watch him play a lot, he's regressed horribly this year. He's been downright terrible in four games this year -- worse than EJ looked in Houston and I'm not exaggerating. Kap has a rocket for an arm but has shown limited leadership thus far in his career and limited desire to get better. I caught an interview today, I forget who it was, but he basically said Kap is learning that unlike in college where the game gets easier as you progress, in the NFL it gets harder because teams learn what to take away from you. In saying that, this guy basically said that Kap doesn't get it yet, and it's why he's going to bottom out before (or even if) he ever "gets it".

Stay away from Kap. Too much $$ and too many question marks.

Rather have Cam Newton,he is a free agent, although he may get a franchise tag.

He is not a FA until '16.

Which down year are you referring to, this year or last year?

The Niners are going to get rid of CK and Harbaugh? Sounds nuts to me.

BTW, if a team gets rid of a young franchise QB without having his replacement already on the squad, don't you think there has to be something seriously wrong with the kid besides "Incompatibility" with Harbaugh?

CK was Harbaugh's personal selection to lead the team. He's not incompatible with Harbaugh.

Do you have to watch the video for the Kaepernick stuff? I can't see it on that page. I hate the internet.

Didn't you essentially say the same thing about RGIII last year? He certainly bounced back this year.

CK is a much better passer than VY. It isn't even close.

But I do agree about the impatient fanbase. We act like Andrew Luck is the norm of young QBs. IF you don't make the playoffs or a pro bowl your rookie, you suck.

No if you play like EJ Manuel this fan base thinks you suck. Getting Kap on this team would make this team an instant super bowl contender. & the cold harsh reality of the Dline is your not going to keep both Dareus & Hughes. There both going to get somewhere in the range of Mario Williams contract maybe a bit less but close. You can't have 3 guys on your Dline making that kind of coin. With that being said SF is not going to let him go unless it is for a king's ransom & I am talking multiple 1st round picks.

That is interesting. I have always been a big Kap fan. My uncle lives about 2 miles away from the University of Nevada & I went & seen him play in college twice. I was mad when they didn't pull the trigger on him in the 2nd round of the draft. With that being said, I really have not watched him much this year. Very interesting posdt you had about him.

You do realize 4 games into his 2nd year, CK didn't even start a game right? You have zero idea how CK would have played as a rookie.

But EJ has the elite offensive mind of Hackett to learn from. Much better than that no nothing Harbaugh.

No but I watched them both in college & Manuel does not have even close the tools that Kap does. Kap was raw coming out of college but he had some tools that you could work with.
