He's a car that's been driven off the lot; also, the dynamics of his contract drive his price down," one NFC general manager told Breer. "The biggest keys -- QBs go for more than other positions, and his contract is ticking down to the last year, unless a team wants to pick up that option.

"An AFC executive added: "On the high end, the team asks for a two and settles for a third or maybe a fourth."

NFL execs: RGIII's trade value likely to be mid-round draft pick

Now that the decision-makers at Redskins Park have grown disillusioned with the erstwhile franchise savior, the question is what kind of return RGIII would bring in an offseason trade.

Griffin is set to earn a reasonable $3.27 million in the final year of his rookie contract, with a decision on his 2016 option due by May 3.

After speaking with several league executives, NFL Media's Albert Breer sets Griffin's trade value at a conditional mid-round draft pick that can be upgraded pending a career turnaround.

I could see him working well for the Eagles... though, Sanchez seems to be doing ok already, so who knows.

I bet Hackett would like him if he desires to go back to Read Option, but I don't see how RGIII handles the beating that requires.

It's pretty obvious he can't handle it. He's not Steve Young. And even Young couldn't play as long as he did in today's NFL with all the concussions he suffered. What's worse is that in order to be effective RG3 ran a lot more his rookie year than the tougher Young ever did. And as a base offence the read option has pretty much gone the way of the wildcat anyway, though it has a limited place in some teams play books - Seattle, San Francisco.

All he had to do at Baylor in Art Briles system was throw to wide open and talented receivers.

It doesn't work that way in the pro game, and before we say Chip Kelly bear in mind that although his system may be QB friendly, it actually asks the player to do a lot. RG 3 cannot execute the way that Sanchez did the other day. He doesn't see the field, can't read a defence, doesn't go through his progressions, can't make the right decisions, holds onto the ball etc..He's pretty much a useless player. Just another world class athlete who cannot play the all important position. Those who focus on his "talent" are really just confusing athleticism for aptitude in playing the position. They are not the same thing and only marginally correlated. At the end of the day, guys like RG3 are not rare. True franchise QBs are rare. In my opinion he will likely be in the discussion for all time epic busts.

If you were serious about taking a chance on a player, do whatever you have to to get Jameis W. Bills could actually have half a chance if his stock dropped a lot because of off field issues (assuming he comes out this year), though it would be very costly.

If he's just immature and not really crazy (which I tend to believe) he would be worth it. He could be as good as Andrew Luck - and that's about as good as it gets.

Walter Football's late November mock has us going qb in rd 2 -- http://walterfootball.com/draft2015_2.php . The reason I mention this is because to people on the outside, it looks like the Bills will be QB-hunting this offseason.

Just say no to Brett Hundley. Even my friends who follow UCLA closely think he will never make it as an NFL QB. Consistent bad decisions. Lot of great highlights. Not great player or prospect.
