26CornerBlitz Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Can Kyle Orton be like Andy Dalton? By Matthew Coller Whenever a new quarterback is thrust into a starting role – one that is not considered the next Manning, Brady or Rodgers – the question is: Can this QB lead Team X to the playoffs? Ten years ago, you might have heard, “If Trent Dilfer could win a Super Bowl…” meaning that Dilfer was the baseline for the worst possible NFL quarterback that a team could win with. Today, the comparison is a little different, but with the same theme in mind. “Can he be their Andy Dalton?”
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 With the right supporting cast, definitely, possibly better.
jaybee Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 A slow news day no doubt. 550am is running out of things to write about.
LB3 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Can he be an average QB who chokes in big games? Sure, why not.
Seasons1992 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I live in Cincinnati.....you don't want this option.
Gray Beard Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I always thought EJ would turn out to be like Dalton. Big but not terribly mobile, strong arm but not that accurate. Wins more than loses, but not a good fantasy pick.
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Can Orton be our Tebow though?
TheWei44 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Seasons, I live in Cincy too. Moved from DC a couple years ago.
Maury Ballstein Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Can he be an average QB who chokes in big games? Sure, why not. Good lord I hope not. Gimme some of this. No thanks to either.
C.Biscuit97 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) Um, Andy Dalton has beaten Orton's career high in tds in 2 of his 4 years and was one off he other year and has 5 games this year. Plus he like 5 years younger. Dalton >> Orton Edited November 28, 2014 by C.Biscuit97
Buffalo Barbarian Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Can Kyle Orton be like Andy Dalton? I think he is better than Dalton except mobility.
26CornerBlitz Posted November 28, 2014 Author Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) I think he is better than Dalton except mobility. On another subject, what's up with your boy Kaep? He's looking pretty bad these days. Edited November 28, 2014 by 26CornerBlitz
filthymcnasty08 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 All he has to be is Trent Dilfer. Our OL needs to keep up the improvements and Freddie needs to stay healthy for passing down blitz pickups/screens. Our D will supply us with stops, turnovers and intimidation. These things together supply us with all we need to win out…..just limit the costly mistakes.

I hope this unit can at least be decent in both the run game and pass pro since the tougher defensive fronts are already in the rear view mirror.
Cleveland Rocks? Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Stats are for losers. Losers like Dalton. He has entire games where he doesn't even show up.
C.Biscuit97 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Stats are for losers. Losers like Dalton. He has entire games where he doesn't even show up. True but he's already had a better career than Kyle Orton.
Thunderstealer Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 His throws to Woods-- a third down late in the pocket throw, the earlier back shoulder, and the TD toss were all-pro reads. He's a professional NFL quarterback who knows very well the players and coaches he's competing against. We're lucky to have him.
Kelly the Dog Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 True but he's already had a better career than Kyle Orton. Without AJ Green he would look like a poor man's Kelly Holcomb.
