Favorite new beer that you have tried recently

Recommended Posts

Went to World of Beer in Syracuse last night and ordered a couple flights of pale ales. Told the waitress to give me whatever she would reccommend. Wow. She knocked it out of the park. All were pretty good, but two might be the best two beers I've ever had.

Sierra Nevada Nooner IPA and Sierra Nevada Hoppy Lager were phenomenal.

I just had the Hoppy Lager on Monday. It was great. It was like a light IPA. Went to BJ's Brewhouse last night. Had sample size four oz beers, and had a hefeweizen, an IPA, a porter and a stout. All were pretty good.

Man, those BJs are popping up all over the place. Little too big for me, but nice places.

I have been drinking a ton of Alter Ego from Smartmouth in Norfolf. I am a big Saison fan, and special marks go out when it comes in a can.

Also, prolly the best thing about this craft beer craze is I buy this in the friggen 7-11 right by my house. I mean 5 years ago craft to to them was Yuengling, and that was the 1 they carried.

2 years ago had 60 minute and Sierra Pale Ale

Now, like 20 crafts in the case all the time.

There's a Shell station near my buddies house that I stopped in really quick, and they have the best beer selection I've ever seen short of a specialty beer/liquor store.

had the nooner last friday at, well, my free at noon show....really enjoyed it. My new favorite beer, though, is the Oskar Blues Pinner...awesome IPA, great hop profile

I'll have to try and find both of these.

Sierra Nevada is a good brewery. I wrote a paper about their operation and sustainability stuff. Really interesting. Applied to work at their new plant in NC but I didn't get the job

I like Southern Tier Helles. Really delicious. The head brewmaster is a friend of mine and he's so good at combining flavors and hops.

Had" Till Sunsset " by Likinghole Creek this weekend. Session IPA.

This is like the 5th session IPA i have tried...and not a fan of any of them.

Although I must say by the 3rd i became accustomed to the taste.

And for Pooj, may be a another big name moving into Richmond. This place has just exploded since ya moved...maybe not a coincidence?

Love lickinghole creek, if you haven't already done so, go out there on a nice day...nice drive to get there, great vista once there.

Really happy to see Hardywood getting as much love as they do...they entered the philly market a year ago, now their stuff flies off the shelves here.

Having Ballast Point in Richmond is going to be awesome, Scupin in the 804!!!!!

Love Sweet Baby Jesus. There is a brewery out of Lancaster PA that is doing some awesome beers with Peanut Butter...Springhouse Big and Little Gruesome series, I know a lot of people will turn their noses up at peanut butter in beers, but man, it works! Don't be afraid to try new beer flavors/styles

Sweet Baby Jesus by Duclaw is awesome!

Since I can no longer consume Gluten, all of the beers I try are either crap or ovepriced. :death:

The best Gluten free beer I have found is locally produced, Alt Brew's Farmhouse Ale http://www.altbrew.com/

The best Nationally available Gluten Free beer I have found is produced in Milwaukee, Lakefront Brewing's New Grist http://www.newgrist.com/

Medical issues, or a choice?

Oh ok. Sorry to hear that. If it was a choice, you were gonna get a Meark style rant from me. Lol.

No sane individual (IMO) would choose to not eat Gluten. I was a HUGE cheap domestic beer fan. Not to mention chocolate snack cakes. Have not found a good replacement for either.

Local brewery down here that's called "No-Label" has an IPA called "Amp Eleven IPA." and the six pack box is designed to look like an amp, with all of the dials going to 11. Good beer too, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't initially buy it because of the name/box.

Huh. I knew they had multiple locations, but I just assumed that it was a local Houston chain with a few locations.

Funny , I was in one for first time about 6 months ago in Dallas, now see them almost everywhere I go. One has just opened in Richmond as well.

Fun list to look through. 2 best beers from each state.

I was surprised by how many Saisons/Sours they had on the list. I drink a lot of both...always harder to find than the hop bombs

Did not keep an official count, but my guess is i have about 25% of these..

BTW, here is one of the contributers

Rob Miller, owner, Goebel Liquor, Wichita, Kansas

Brings to mind that fine french beer of my youth.. the same spelling as the store...bot of course pronounce Joebel
