Pine Barrens Mafia
I've lived in the Bay Area for almost 6 years now (holy crap time flies). I couldn't stand the young people there when I live in the city. Arrogant hipsters that have it all figured out. Now I live next to Berkeley and I can't stand the young people that were in that video. But the old hippies in our area. They're mostly harmless. Probably becaue they're mostly stoned. In the end they mean well but the 60's fried their brains. The young !@#$s? 'em. This might be, however, the first time I'm with them. http://www.sfgate.co...-in-5906041.php college education is a -right-? Since when?

LeviF
Who said it was? From your link: “More and more, I realize that education should be a right and not a privilege,” Kivlen said. “Everyone should have access to education as a human right. (Tuition hikes) could keep people from accessing something that is rightly theirs, and you have to fight against that.”
Chef Jim
From your link: Right but my point is the UC system has some big balls voting to increase tuition 5% a year over the next five years. Especially after the numbskulls in this state passed Prop 30 two short years ago which promised to prevent tuition hikes.

Hold on a sec, in an environment where college tuition is rising double digits, the sages in California are freezing tuition costs?
Chef Jim
Hold on a sec, in an environment where college tuition is rising double digits, the sages in California are freezing tuition costs? No. They raised our taxes promising to freeze tuition costs which obviously didn't happen.
Nanker
Yes. It's a piping $5,472 a year for instate residents - including those from the states of California and all of Mexico's.
GG
No. They raised our taxes promising to freeze tuition costs which obviously didn't happen. You sound almost surprised. Why are you complaining about providing basic rights to future baristas.

Pine Barrens Mafia
11k a year is not exorbitant for the quality of education you get at UCLA or Berkeley.
Chef Jim
You sound almost surprised. Why are you complaining about providing basic rights to future baristas. Because I make my coffee at home. 11k a year is not exorbitant for the quality of education you get at UCLA or Berkeley. Not the point. Where is that money going? That was a rhetorical question.
