There's nothing to break, because there was no deal, because the Senate never ratified it! Somebody needs to explain that to...everybody. Trump's not "pulling out" of the Paris Accords. The US was never a party to the Paris Accords, because Obama shaking hands with the Chinese Premiere does not a ratification make.

Hall, half the **** Trump's pulling is only possible because Obama never did his job properly.

I'm amazed such a thing still exists and hasn't been replaced by the Bay Area Safe Space / Environmental Holocaust of 1849 Memorial

Well there was a huge exhibit regarding the Japanese internment to knock the patriotic stuffing out of anyone who got carried away.

Nothing about how American battleships so cruelly and callously destroyed all those Japanese bombs and torpedoes at Pearl Harbor?

I was at the Presidio in SF on Memorial Day. It's an old army base with some great history attached to it. They had a mural talking about the formation of the SF Bay. It mentioned that the world was covered in ice 22,000 years ago. That is recent history for this planet. What caused those glaciers to retreat before we even arrived? Is global warming real? Hard to say but even if it is it's pretty likely that it's just the cyclical warming and cooling of this planet that has happened for millions and millions of years. And to think that we can do anything to change mother nature is........... :w00t:

November 2016 study by Yale University. Even among Trump supporters interviewed, about half agree with staying in agreement. Margin of error is plus/minus 10 so take it with a grain of salt. http://climatecommunication.yale.edu/publications/paris_agreement_by_state/

We're not in the agreement to begin with, because it was never ratified by the Senate!!!!!

Am I the only one in the country that paid attention in 8th grade social studies?

But it was unanimously approved by all three branches of Government. Obama, his pen, and his phone

Someone's going to sue Trump over this in federal court. They'll venue shop it to the Ninth Circuit, and one of their judges will rule that the Paris Accords are binding because Trump bad or some such.

And the idiot democrats will celebrate, not realizing that decision effectively neuters Congress and truly makes the country an authoritarian state.

It won't happen but it would be great if Trump said we are pulling out so that the Senate can consider it and do the job right (up or down vote, I would take the result). That would leave Senate R's running in circles, too. Hilarity ensues.

Short term, yes. But after it gets to the SC it SHOULD uphold the constitutionality of requiring the Senate to ratify treaties before they're binding. Assumes, of course, that they don't go looking to "international law" for precedent & stay within this country's laws for guidance. (Would be a lot more comfortable about that were either Kennedy or Ginsburg retired.)

Which is STILL one of the biggest "pros" in having the current President. There's a lot better chance of having some checks and balances restored than there was w/ the alternative.

I believe the resulting Senate deliberations would go a little something like

Which I was saying from the start.

But I'm still surprised at the general chaos surrounding Congress and the courts that they still can't even get out of their own way to do so.

Well for most of us, 8th grade was a long time ago.

WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING? Solar-Powered California Warned to Unplug for August Eclipse.

State energy officials are warning residents to click off all lights they don’t need and unplug all electrical appliances when 62 percent of the sun disappears over Los Angeles during a partial solar eclipse that is expected that day.

Nobody is warning of blackouts. But then again, nobody knows what will happen.

“When the sun goes away, so does the energy that powers our renewable solar panels. If millions of Californians turn off appliances and power strips to unplug from the grid during the eclipse, we can let our hard-working sun take a break,” said Michael Picker, president of the California Public Utilities Commission.

Pre-modern societies trembled at unforeseeable eclipses, and in postmodern California it’s pretty much the same story

The next 8 minutes, as I wait for Trump to formally dump this Global Warming not-treaty, are going to be long.

EDIT: This has been a long time coming, but, Global Warming, the once-perfect political vehicle for US/world socialism, dies today. :D
