I'd give him the benefit of the doubt if he cited any evidence in Australia that greenies who have more interest in protecting the loose dry leaves and twigs (which apparently are the natural habitat of the furry-arsed wombathas impacted the fires in a negative way.

What evidence, information or basic understanding, precisely, do you have over there in WNY that trumps mine who lives less than 50 miles from these bushfires?

Your answers on the subject - or at least those of any substance - could probably fit on a postage stamp with room to spare.

SNAFU.

Aussie/NZ actor Russell Crowe just won an award at the Golden Globes. He was not at the awards so Aniston and Witherspoon accepted the award on his behalf.

Then came your typical standard, holier than thou Hollywood elite lecture about climate change and the Australian bushfires.

This despite Ricky Gervais's brilliant (and free) advice to all award winners to just accept their awards, thank whatever God you believe in and your agent and f*** off, because:

You’re in no position to lecture the public...most of you spent less time at school than Greta Thunberg” ?

Then it should be easy then for you to provide the evidence you cite.

There is a day to day economic impact also being felt by tour guides. We had a trip to the Blue Mountains scheduled, and cancelled it. We had to reschedule a koala bear sanctuary visit and the tour guide told my husband that many people are canceling excursions (not just with his company) and it is really hurting the bottom line.

While the emphasis is (properly) and homes and lives, there is a real financial concern for people in the tourism industry. They have bills to pay.

As with any disaster you (generic you) are first happy and relieved to be safe and unharmed - and then the economic reality of the situation hits.

It would appear that your "Greenies" have about as much sense as our California "environmentalists". Starving a fire of its fuel is a basic way of preventing its spread. Dry conditions and high winds are a prescription for wildfires and not doing as much as possible to reduce fuel for those wildfires is severe negligence. Please keep us updated on the tragedy you guys are experiencing and above all be safe.

BTW, does anyone doubt that it will be proven that a few, some or all of your arsonists will have ulterior motives such as trying to blame climate change for the very fires they started?

Out of two dozen?  That's a virtual certainty.

“Make no mistake, the tragedy unfolding in Australia is climate change-based,” Aniston read. “We need to act based on science, move our global workforce to renewable energy, and respect our planet for the unique and amazing place it is. That way we all have a future.”

Too bad she didn't listen to Gervais:

“If you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.”
