I understand the argument, but look at the tools Montana had to work with. And Brady has maintained his excellence for a longer period of time, although Montana certainly was no flash-in-the-pan. And decisions like that, which add up over time, are why they are a Super Bowl contender every single year and we are missing the playoffs for the 15th consecutive year. Oh, and I guess a team that featured Jeff Tuel as it's backup quarterback in the preseason couldn't make a spot for Ryan Mallett. And on the other side of the ball: other than Luck himself, the Colts ran the ball 14 times for a total gain of 4 yards. FOUR YARDS. How is that even possible? I guess the Pats don't miss run-stuffing specialist Brandon Spikes (another example of money that would have been better applied to the O line. We won't have them where we want them until it's our first round bye and we either watch them miss the playoffs or play in the WC round. Right now, they're where they have been for years.
