PolishDave Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Phil Simms made a couple of points tonight that I think need to be mentioned here. 1) It is a poor offensive design to expect your offense to execute 15 plays in order to score a touchdown. You have to mix in some big play trys in order to score touchdowns. 2) You have to throw the ball deep enough times because sometimes you get the penalty. You don't always have to complete the pass. Sometimes you get the penalty. Hackett could learn a thing or two from Phil.
thewildrabbit Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 He is already learning from Orton. The guy is an egotistical dipstick who is getting paid way more then he is worth, and unbelievably nobody in the FO comprehends this.
AJ1 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 If Hackett trained for 10 years he still would be no good. Another case of a no-nothing son of a competent coach. It happens more times than not.
PolishDave Posted November 14, 2014 Author Posted November 14, 2014 The sad part is that the opportunity was there today.. They threw the ball deep once in the third quarter once the Bills were down 2 scores. Orton missed Sammy who had a step. This could have been a way different game with the Bills D teeing off on Tannehill instead of the Dolphins D teeing off on Orton.
billsfanmd07 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Our off seemed to regress and teams figured us out....I think he fell in love with ORton and they forgot about protecting him. lots of wrong routes. I would have called time to get the most important play of the season right...typical it skidded on the ground.

ORton had all the time in the world to throw early in this game.....That is when you throw the deep ball.....You don't wait till your down by two scores and the defense can tee off on you....The team who goes up first in a game like this is the team who has the big advantage....The coaches should know this unless they are incompetent.
first_and_ten Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Hackett should NEVER have been hired. How could they really expect a kid to come into the NFL and run a professional offense? Just a terrible decision. Hackett is not ready to coach in the NFL. Marrone wil pay the price for not going out and bringing in an offensive coordinator with more experience. This speaks to the arrogance of Marrone. He brought in quality defensive guys, so why bring some kid that is clearly in over his head? This is on Marrone, and he will lose his job because of it. And another thing..where was this cutting edge, innovative coach that I heard about when they hired Marrone? Are we sure we got the right Marrone? Is he an imposter? Maybe he's Dick Jauron in disguise?
IronyAbounds Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Note to Board Administrators: There can never be too many fire Hackett threads. I don't care if the entire front page is various fire Hackett threads, there can never ever be to many, so please do not lock any of them down, not one of them.

You know.,...when I talk to younger guys...(guys under 40) they think that hiring a young guy is a good idea because they have good ideas and they understand the new trends in the game..... I call B.S. on that...I want a guy with plenty of experience coaching my team on offense defense and the head coach. I want a guy who has eat, drank and crapped football for a few decades.....Give me one of those guys who is a good game preparer and a good game caller....
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I thought the offense was fine in the first half. I think they even converted something like 6/8 3rd downs. Then, at half time, the dolphins adjusted, and basically brought more pressure up the middle. And we did nothing in response.

Can you imagine the Broncos or the Patriots saying the offense seems fine wiht 6 points on the board? Edited November 14, 2014 by first_and_ten

Yup....but really it was a bit later in the third quarter when Miami started bringing pressure effectively......I think the Bills came out in the second half with one of Hackett's infamous run run pass punt series.....could be wrong though...

Was worse than that. 3rd and 1, and we ran a deep pitch, losing 5 yards. Brilliant.
