tombstone56 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 simple question. it looks like AP will be a FA in 2015 ,would you want him here?. inside runner, but are his best days past ? and the off field stuff?
Sojourner Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I don't really think he'll become a free agent. Most likely the Vikes trade him for something and remove that huge contract off the books. In saying that however: For a reasonable price, maybe. But one would have to assume that while he won't be getting the same kind of contract, he'll at least command Gore - Foster type money ($6.5m - $8.5m). So no. No thank you.
ProcessAccepted Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I'd love to have him but there are greater needs that could be addressed with the money it would take to get him. Great question though.
NoSaint Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I'd love to have him but there are greater needs that could be addressed with the money it would take to get him. Great question though. almost surely. but short term - would, say, a starting guard do more for our offense or would AP? im not sure the answer. he does have a knack for making offensive lines look good. in 2015, if we can keep hughes, we would have pretty much the whole defense together - some good outside threats, a competent but not great qb in orton and if he could make the run game start churning and take some pressure off the line.... i could see it having a good return on investment. long term, the dude is turning 30 this offseason and has a lot of mileage. id be shocked if he lasts more than a year or two and then a contract could become an anchor.
KD in CA Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Never pay big money for a 30-year old RB. Easiest position on the field to replace. Spend the $ fixing the OL
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 In 1980 maybe. Not today. Now adays an incredible 2 down back just isn't going to push the team over the top. In some ways ap isn't extremely different than spiller. Unquestionably Different running styles but the lack of versatility on third down or other passing situations is a common thread. Throw in age and mileage on top.... Anyone how pays a kings random for him will likely end up wishing they didn't.
boyst Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 tHe He cost and contract would be too big. He would ant 4 years and he may only last 2. An OG maybe more economincql.
NoSaint Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 As a heavily used 30 year old I'm curious to see what the contract looks like. I'd imagine he will need to give some substantial concessions in salary and/or guarantees Anyone guaranteeing him a large sum would be crazy
K D Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 good RB's are a dime a dozen, better to invest in the OL and then even undrafted RB's can hit the holes
BillsBytheBay Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 This is Adrian Peterson were talking about. He hasn't slowed down at all, some of this is crazy talk. If you don't like the guy for his off the field stuff, cool; but to say you don't want him because he's to old?! That's crazy talk. Have you seen him play?! If its reasonable go get him.

mrags Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 I wouldn't want him because of his injury issues over the years. That combined with age doesn't bode well.
ProcessAccepted Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 If he's a FA Cowboys will overpay Not with the season DeMarco Murray's having. It sounds more like a move the Jets would make.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 simple question. it looks like AP will be a FA in 2015 ,would you want him here?. inside runner, but are his best days past ? and the off field stuff? to be honest... I'll take Beast Mode if available
MOFO Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 If you invest in the O-line you could put Tom friggin Jolls in the backfield an you would get 100 years easy...just imagining that makes me feel salubrious.
NoSaint Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 No thanks. Not worth the contract he'll get. For reference as someone mentioned the jets - Johnson got 2 years for 8m total. What if the deal is something like that? Petersons better but at time of signing would be 2 years older (over 30)
