transient Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 To the OP: Please use the search function before starting a new thread. There is already a TBD thread discussing horrible human beings.
bobobonators Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 2nd question is borderline political but not to be taken as fuel for politics. Does the DOJ/FBI care enough? I do not know if this is something they will spend much time on, as these types of investigations have not been good to them. From the Lance Armstrong/MLB cases to the IRS. The FBI has come up dry too often recently. Man, I don't know... NAMBLA would have to really lower their admittance standards. If information presented is credible and corroborated an investigation will ensue. What happens from there is unpredictable. Just bc theres an investigation doesnt mean a crime has been committed - thats a whole other process.

YoloinOhio Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 UAB is investigating the friend @jemelehill: Ruh-oh RT @CFTalk: UAB DE being investigated for possible Jameis Winston point-shaving incident http://t.co/5qTNhm7lyY
OCinBuffalo Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 (edited) This is getting to the point that only 1 of 2 things can be true: 1. Winston is a horrible person 2. Ther are a whole bunch of horrible other people, who are doing whatever they can to bring this kid down. (I suppose SEC boosters would be the prime suspect here. But as I've said many times: I intentionally have nothing to do with college football, other than watching the Championship game. That's why, when draft time comes around, I retain objectivity.) What is the next Winston story going to be? Stealing the Navy's goat? (Any West Point plebe(s) that can steal that goat sucessfully is instantly recognized(no more hazing), but any plebe getting caught doing it gets 3 months restriction(essentially prison). It was quite tempting.) Edited November 8, 2014 by OCinBuffalo
NY Nole Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I don't know what is worse- the fact that I managed to sift through four pages of this thread, the lengths that TMZ will stoop to try and get people to pay attention to them or the level of unfounded disdain that some of you have for Winston. The kid is the best collegiate QB BY FAR and has the potential to be a great NFL player if he chooses to go that route (not nearly a given due to his baseball ability).

Let's be fair - he's kind of a moron, there's a lot to dislike about fsu and ny nole might be a little biased. Jw does make some pretty good plays on the field though.
Solomon Grundy Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Somebody really is trying to ruin his draft status! Maybe he should stay in college to try to recoup his image

Solomon Grundy Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 do you still believe in EJ? Yes, I believe in EJ! Do I believe in Jeff Tuel is the question. Jameis Winston to the Bills in the 2nd rd????
4merper4mer Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I agree and understand but I can't believe the feds will put more then a blinking second on it. These are the same Feds that investigated Barry Bonds for a decade simply because he is surly.
YoloinOhio Posted November 8, 2014 Author Posted November 8, 2014 Yes, I believe in EJ! Do I believe in Jeff Tuel is the question. Jameis Winston to the Bills in the 2nd rd???? well, EJ is his mentor.
The Dean Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Somebody really is trying to ruin his draft status! Maybe he should stay in college to try to recoup his image Love the Roger Ramjet avatar! Just WOW with regard to this story. Nothing more to say than, if it wasn't Winston, I'd dismiss it out of hand. I'm a bit of an FSU fan--that is, my nieces went there, and I live in Florida and despise the Gators--so by default I guess I'm a bit of an FSU fan. It's just that the kid has been involved with so many different moronic issues (some definately true, some speculative) it's hard to totally dismiss the possibility this may be true. I'll say the same thing I said with Johnny Football---PASS,. Let someone else draft him. Is it possible he will be good? Yes. But you simply don't bet the franchise on a character issue of that magnitude. i tell you what. If he's there in the 6th or 7th round, then fine, take a flyer.

Is he an arrogant entitled punk? Yep. So was everyone's beloved #12. Both had a undying hatred of losing which yup can't teach. Manziel may have sold some autographs but that's not a crime. Stealing crablegs and allegedly raping a coed makes Winston a criminal and social deviant. Throw in the move he made on campus and this allegation and this kid is closer to Maurice Clarett and Travis Henry than Johnny Manziel. He has as much potential to be in jail as the pro bowl. Updraftable.
Augie Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 We're heading to FSU in the morning to visit our son, a senior, and watch the game. I hope Winston keeps it up just enough to fall to the Bills in the second. How is it a kid (and he's NOT yet a man) can play such a good game but struggle with every day life. He acts like he's half of his 20 years.
The Dean Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 I'd take manziel right now. Is he an arrogant entitled punk? Yep. So was everyone's beloved #12. Updraftable. Comparing Kelly's cockiness to Johnny's arrogance is more than a stretch. Kelly was never a stone cold PUNK. But even if we accept that there was a small bit of Manziel in Kelly, his days of getting battered, and showing toughness, in the USFL seasoned him enough that by the time he got to Buffalo he had calmed down some. Perhaps the Bills were lucky he didn't come to the team straight out of college. Sure he was a bit rough in the bars (or so I'm told) but he managed to keep that stuff private for the most part, and never appeared to be above the team. If Manziel sits quietly for awhile longer, or if he gets his chance and performs well and keeps the public stupidity on the down low, then he might be worth a look, but not before. I'm never for taking a character risk as your face of the franchise QB. I think Manziel had "Character Risk" tattooed on his forehead in college. He is early in the process of removing it, IMO. Winston got the full body tattoo. I'm not sure than can be removed.

I understand your point but just want to point out the obvious: manziel lives in an era where everyone has a phone w a camera, there are industries fully dedicated to exploiting and covering athletes, and then throw in the explosion of social media. Kelly may have been able to keep a lot of his actions private bc it was a heck of a lot easier to do so 20-30yrs ago.
